Very Strange closet, new hydro setup

Hey everyone, so I just moved into a new house, and after seeing the ridiculously huge amount of closet space, I decided to grow in some of it. The thing is, the ceiling starts off normal height and slants down until it touches the floor, so there is not much height.

The dimensions of the front of the closet are 5.5' high, 2 feet deep, and 6+' wide. The thing is, it goes back way deeper than that, but it gets short pretty quickly, I have pictures attached to show this. The reason it is short is because there is a shelf there.

Concerns I have...

-Room, is this a big enough area?

-Heat, it is upstairs, and it gets very hot, 100+ over the summer, if I have to wait till winter that is alright. Although we have a big swamp cooler that blows upstairs, and I can buy an AC unit to blow into the closet.

-Finding a strain that will produce a lot, and not grow very high. I have access to lots of different clones, and I just need to find one similar to lowrider.

Other than this, I'm fairly confident with this. I have lots of experience growing outdoors, and a little indoors, however no hydro experience. I was thinking of doing an ebb and flow system, or maybe just grow bags and hand watering them.

I have access to a 600 watt light, but I havent seen it yet, although I figure I will go with a 600, and 6ish plants.

I also have a loft in my room, which I may use for clones, or something, I don't know.

From the bottom of the shelf to the floor is 5.5', and i figure I will hang the light from the bottom of the shelf. Is 5.5' too low?

The closet goes back behind the wall, and there is a door going to it, making it way wider than 6ish feet, although theres a wall in front of the opening.

A better shot showing how much room I have to work with.

Ideas? Feedback? Am I a dumbass for thinking I can grow in this area? Thanks.

Hmm, first of all, hats off to you for your ingenuity and your eye. I mean, if you have extra space, why not just use it for growing?

Here are my answers to your questions:

-Room, is this a big enough area?

Looks like it.

-Heat, it is upstairs, and it gets very hot, 100+ over the summer, if I have to wait till winter that is alright. Although we have a big swamp cooler that blows upstairs, and I can buy an AC unit to blow into the closet.

That's probably going to be a good idea. You don't want to have things get too hot.

-Finding a strain that will produce a lot, and not grow very high. I have access to lots of different clones, and I just need to find one similar to lowrider.

That is a good idea since the space does seem cramped.

I think you can certain grow a few plants in this area and set up some clones in the other space.

Sounds like you got the right idea overall and I wish you luck. Hope you can update with pictures!!!

This is just a thought.I wasd looking at your grow space and thinking about your space problem and I was think that you could probably LST them in there.Use the wall like a trellace. You might have to repair it after your dont though.

Like I said "just a thought".

Take care and I wish you luck.

I have the same closet setup ,I run 3 rubbermaids with4-3inch netcups scrog style .under 3 400s,But ac and ventilation is key.The biggest bitch is water changes cuz theonly side of the closet you can walk in is the shorter side.the shot of the buds was 1 bubbler with a 2x2 screen with 2 strains pulled over 7 z's ,if you can keep temps down your good to go .good luck

People grow in PC cases so I wouldn't worry about not having enough space.. just depends on your style/requirements.

Try to get a measurement of the space in cubic feet to determine max watts and all. 400w would suffice but if possible I would try to up that to 600w.

Just a random thought but what if you did a perpetual type harvest in that space and keep the smaller, younger plants, under the slant.
