Vertitube question

I'm setting up my own vertitube system with 2 1k sodiums, 6". My question is, would cooling this system with a room air conditioner be feasible? I have converted the room ac to accept 6" ducting I/O, and it has timer on the unit. heavy cooling of the tubes couldn't cause any unwanted expansion or any kind of damage to the bulbs right?

Dropping temps on lights messes them up. I don't know the science behind it, but ive read it in a few places on this site. They become less effective because the gas in them has to reach certain temps to perform correctly. Id suggest dropping the cool tube idea and increasing the exhaust for the room to draw the heat directly from above the lights. With a small fan underneath the lights blowing straight up supporting the exhaust fans, it creates an invisible cool tube in a sense. Then u don't lose any light to the glass. Its very effective.
