Vertical Soil Garden Idea

I am thinking that it wouldnt be too hard to build a shelf system that would roughly imitate a coliseum for a soil grow. Hang 2x4's from the rafters and bolt angled shelves onto them. Probably 4 sides, 4 levels, 4 or 6 inch lip on each shelf, shelves capped on the ends and lined with pond liner to hold water.

Use 5 1/2 inch pots and just add water to the shelf when they need it.

Anybody done this before in a soil grow?

Show us what it looks like in real life. If you build it, they will grow!

I was hoping someone else had done it, so I could learn from them...

You can do it and if you had like a 5x5 closet you could put shelves on the back wall and on the door and have 4 sides.

Can anyone tell me what the angle is and the distance to the light on a Coliseum? 45 Degrees? Two Feet clearance?

Ive got a shitload of designs on paper, ive been neavering away dsigning for aboyut month now for a vertical system that can be used with just about any medium... i have decided on a gatrden trough set up, with a fram holdiong the troughs tilted slightly forward, an octagon or hexangon shape, the troughs above one another, cool tbes....you could use soil or coco, or go hydro using lec or cellmax/mapito, or diahydro.....ill try to get a couple of my sketches up if I can scan em.....
i also though of plywood rings which plant pots slot into, they are held by a main fram and built around a centrl cool tubed lighting setup, with each row staggered slightly...as i say ill try get some of my designs up.

That would be very cool. I thought about an octagonal shape as I am pretty sure someone on OG built one a while back, but I can't find that thread for the life of me.

I just dont know how much more work would be involved in building a freestanding 8 sided wooden structure that would have to hold hundreds of pounds of plants, soil, water etc. My carpentry skills are lacking.

I look forward to your sketches sir!
