.:Vertical SCROG Log:. *3D Building Plans*

Vertical SCROG :: Dimensions:5'x5'x7' :: 6' Cool Tube (2k HPS)
(80) 3 Gallon Pots :: Strain:TBA :: GH Nutrients :: Soil:pro-mix
Pump feeding :: Co2 enriched :: Internal Carbon Scrubber
Harvest Goal: 6lbs

Thanks for joining me again, this will be my second vertical room design. My first was an 8x8x8ft room with wood shelving and a 6ft. Cool tube. You can view that thread *here* I was hoping to harvest 6lbs but only got a little under 5. The new design should be much better and hopefully produce the 6lbs we were expecting.

So its hard to say what makes a grow room "better", my main goal is making it more "efficient". Highest yield, smallest space, shortest time, least power.

The new design will overcome the following flaws with the original design
  • Light Distance
Plants will now grow into netting placed at an optimal distance from the cool tube so that they absorb the maximum amount of lumens
  • Shelving
Wire shelving on chains will replace the heavy wood shelves. The shelves will be collapsible and light weight making them easy to set up and move quickly if needed. Water will drip into a simple poly plastic gutter that will allow the shelves to remain evenly horizontal.
  • Pots
Plants vegetating will be transplanted once they reach the length it would take them to reach the netting. They are then transplanted horizontally into pots with slots cut into them for the stalk. This will almost eliminate wasted space between shelves and allows for an extra tier. Plants then grow horizontally without having to tip the pots or train the stalk to grow in an unnatural curve that also would take more time.
  • Air Filtration
Space is tight but there is now space to incorporate a carbon scrubber within the room to keep the room odor free.
  • Access
Even at 8ft square it was very crowded in there. The frame of the room is divided into 2 triangles that come apart. Half of the room is stationary and the other half is on wheels. Latches will keep both sides sealed together but when they come apart not only are you able to reach all points of the room but you are able to take them apart for unlimited breathing room. So if your claustrophobic… there's your solution. This also makes it very easy to swap out the grow lights to incorporate MH or maybe even LEDs. The rolling side of the room can also be swapped with other rooms which I believe maybe useful somehow.

I have 2 weeks to improve on the design before we begin construction, I appreciate any input from the growing community. I will be updating the 3D model regularly as I ad more detail and make changes. Subscribe now, this thread is sure to be long and interesting.

hi there, ime id certainly leave the colume of plants in the corner out, as plants on either side will block illumination.

be checking your progress, bests with the show

Hello,

nice setup, i did read your entire thread on RIU, nice going, and nice work on the step by step tutorial.
However, I think that you did not have enough units to maximize all the light. and they were possibly, too far away from the center of the tube.

How are you implementing CO2 this time around? burner? sealed room?

How large are you planning for each unit to be after stretch period?

From what I have gathered, after reading many different threads on the subject, is, that tilting seems to perform less than a flat shelf. It could possibly be that the plant is wasting energy by building support strength, I dont really know, except from the results I have read in the past. but obviously there are a lot more factors to consider, other than just tilting the pot or shelf.

Be safe!!

I was thinking of making one of these or the stadium, but I went with the stadium. Vertical > *.

Have you thought about going 5 shelves with 1 gal pots and 200 plants? Or maybe you want to stay under 100.

How is the CO2 controlled, is that a sealed room or intake/exhaust? If intake/exhaust do you turn the fans off and run the co2?

How are the buds? are they fluffy? I know stadium have issues with fluffy buds if you have the plants large and do not prune bottom leaves/lollipop, and youre using 3gal... They may seem abit far off from the light but obviously closer than the stadium since the air cooled tubes.

How long are you vegging? Are you using lucas for the GH? What do you ph water your promix to? 6.5?

I suggest you out the pots in "circles", so every plant gets light equally.
I hope you got what i mean:)

Re: Bodiroach
Thank you for following our threads, its nice to know we get cross pollination from forum to forum HAHA bee joke. Get it. Okay

Co2 will be implemented by the new water cooled co2 generators. They are great for the heat.

If no one has noticed the room closes like two pieces of a puzzle. One side is stationary and holds up the cool tube. The other opens and closes.

The plants are vegged out into the two cage semi circles and because of this there is no danger of them being to far or too close to the light. As they veg I will sew the plants into the cage like someone would a SCROG grow.

Re: Cmoon
I experienced the problem with the corner plants the first time around but with this design the plants will grow into the cage for the perfect distance from the light. This is the reason for the slits cut into the pots. When I transplant into the large pots the plants will grow sideways until reaching the cage.

Re: Drow
You can have as little or as many plants, shelves or you can even grow one strain on one side and one on the other since one half of the room is designed to come apart from the other so that you may tend to the plants without disturbing them.

Re: Maddox
Sorry have nooo idea what your talking about, may also be because of the cage I have no problems with lighting.
