vertical height

I have a cabinet that I want to use for a small flouro grow. mainly to try out a few new strains. The dimensions are 27 inches high x s4 inches wide x 22 1/2 inches deep. My question is, is this not enough vertical height for flowering? Will it overegrow the space? I don't expect much from it even going in.

Go with a low substrate and canopy control (necessary with floro grows anyway) and you'll be fine.

Question tho, when you say substrate do you mean potting medium?
or am I way off track with that.
Also canopy control, you mean scrog, lst etc. right

Apparently I could've said it better but, yes and yes.

Suitable substrates include (but, aren't limited to) Rockwool cubes, NFT, SWC. Anything that doesn't chew up height, like an 18 gallon rubbermaid res or 3 gallon soil bags. Something in the 4-6 inch range. Remember, your lamps chew up height as well. Both by physical space and the space between lamp and canopy. You've got maybe 17 inches of "grow" space after subtracting substrate and lamps.

ScROG and LST both force veg growth horizontally, with buds allowed to grow vertically. SOG might do if you went straight to 12/12 from seed or clone. Depends on strain. I'd avoid SOG for strains that flower more than 8 weeks.

killer, it was stated well the first time, just making sure I wasn't too stoned. i'm using some square pots, 5 1/2 inches deep. lighting only comes down 3-4 inches as i'm using CFL's at a set height, i also plan on having some hanging CFL's to keep right around canopy level as they stretch. plus i'm using some White Widow from a local seed bank and have been told their good for SOG, more or less one cola sticking straight up. in the footprint of my light i can fit 16 of the pots i have when maxed out, but i'm thinking of only running 8 the first time to see what happens horizontally. And again ( i feel I need to stress this mainly to myself) i'm not going for quantity on this one....more so stealth.

another random question for anyone...when people are talking about cfl's and they say i'm using a 60w.....is that the 13w and their talking out put(13w=60w) or is it the 60w that supposedly equals like 200w?
