vert gro spacing

What spacing is recommended for a vertical grow? Anyone remember what Krusty said about the subject? I would assume similar to horizontal with things like being 16-18 inches away from the top (sides in vert) assuming they are in a cool tube and 1.5 to 3x stretch, but is stretch at all similar on the horizontal? I was thinking of 7 plants in a checker board pattern with 2 1k in the center, some smaller lights on the side or simply rotate the plants to compensate. There is also the thought of using a dual cool tube in the center of 4 plants.

You want to give your plants 5 square feet each.

that configuration would be correct. If they are in cool tubes, you would want a fan strong enough so the plants can grow up to the glass.

Unless the room is quite large, if you will be adding sidelight I would look into an AC unit.

5 square ft. that's pretty close to what I was guessing...thanks

Because of the lumen loss from the glass? What CFM do u reccy? I'm guessing max cfm for that size of duct.

Because of heat dissipation in a larger space I assume? Are you assuming that the additional light won't be aircooled? Or saying go with AC regardless? (I would definately be using AC, just trying to see your logic).

Is it generally better to top or not to? I'm used to topping and automatically want to do it that way, but it doesn't seem like it would work as well vertically, depending on the strain i suppose.

I've read the few Krusty and vertical-type threads I could find on here and these were the biggest mysteries...thanks for stoppin' in Mpro

yes, additionally to the glass, every inch away from the bulb is killing the amount of lumens the plant receives. (600w HPS 90,000 1foot, 22,500 2feet, 9,999 3feet) (1000w MH 115,000 1foot, 28,750 2feet, 12,777 3feet)

As you can see, you want every part of the plant to get hit by light that is 2feet or closer. Thats why you use 5 lamps in k's setup.

That is why ideally you want a big enough AC so you can run all the lamps bare, in the mogul.

If you are hitting them with enough light, just veg em for a 2-3 weeks then flip. No need to top, they will fill grow big enough.

hang your 1k's lower, and the corner lights higher.
