awesome grow and even more awesome is the grower's ingenuity

Many thanks sir. Hopefully the next run will be better. A lot of room for improvement.

Things are looking very chunky from underneath. I think your design is great. Once you find the perfect strain, the sky is the limit.

Just some fun updates...

Will be choppin down in vert at the end of the week so should have some numbers by the end of next week or there abouts...

Ill get some pics of the vert before chop down, but here are some of the tables... All tables are beginning of week 6 so they are just going should be packin on some weight...

picture.php

36 plants in a 3x3 defoliated since beginning... lights on...

picture.php

Same as above, but lights off...

picture.php

4x8 2k watts of PK...

picture.php

Same table just different angle...

Same table just different angle...

Anyway things are going well... VERY excited about seein what I pull down in the vert. If I get 1.25gpw + I will be switching all my systems to that so I hope it goes well... should know soon...

I believe you will hit 1.25 GPW. And probably more. It's gonna to be nice to see somebody actually hit those kind of numbers in this vert section!

Im anxious to see the results. I know with my design i am limited. "I wish i would of found this group before i built my system. I was going off pics of heaths 3 level rack when i built mine. But i know now that 4 levels and 4 across, 16 plants per wall (like DHF preaches) is the ticket. And your flat grows are insane too! Im in AWW!

Looking good!

Inspired by the 4x8 trays. Can you take a pic of the outside/ back of your orca reflector? I just want to get an idea of how it looks in the back. I have some 4x8 trays I'm going to put to use soon and this looks like a great way to save space.

Yo bros been a minute since I updated so here we go...

Ladies have about 10-14 days left and are looking awesome. Never had vert nugs this big before so I am hoping for a good pull down...

Should know in a few weeks!

Outside shot looking in. Wish i could open her up more, but shes a tight squeeze. No complaints though...

Lights off for a different look.

Slightly different, but same picture.

Lookin up... nugs look pretty large.

If you notice in the first couple of pics I am not using any trellis netting. I was going to, but I think the sag actually makes for better light coverage because most branches end up being horizontal.

Canopy isn't quite as dense as I would like. Next round will have a better veg, which hopefully will solve that problem.

Anyway things are looking ok for the first run. Definitely room for improvement though.

Oh yea and I tried everybody's suggestion to defoliate slowly and I like it a lot. Pretty much minimal if any stall and things rocked along nicely. Will definitely be defoliating in stages in all my grows from now on so thanks to everybody for chiming in.

This SO reminds me of Heath Robinson (that's a compliment man) designed rooms, truly great work here! :good:....I hope you just KILL IT BldSwtTrs

Three grows at once, all look damn near perfect. Really cool DIY reflector.
I'd think a Super Sun 2 for example would cost the same, but the light spread with this is
really interesting because your reflector is as wide as the canopy. My brain is in La La Land but I'm interpreting it as: light is hitting the edges of the canopy at +3 angles, compared to 2 with a typical reflector, and the light bounces off less surfaces to do that, which would be more efficient. Though regardless of the intracracies, a DIY horizontal reflector getting +1gpw is just plain awesome.
I'm excited to hear what the yields turn out to be.
Ohh and sorry if I missed it earlier BldSwtTrs, but could you give any of the vertical dimensions? Like the distance from canopy to bulb (or whatever measurement, just trying to get an idea of the space used and light intensity) and the canopy height?

Hey man I would be stoked to hit 1.25 GPW considering it is the first run on this system and the strain isn't really a super yielder. I have hit 1.3 GPW in horizontal before so I am confident that higher numbers are possible.

Funny how you were using Heath's design as a template. Its funny because when I first started I was debating whether to build the rack you described or his flooded tubes. Always have had nothing but the most respect for Heath and what he does.

4 plants on 4 levels is looking sweet although I still need to figure out how to deal with the corners getting choked out without moving the racks away from the light. Also need to train the plants better so I can get em bigger before the flip.

Next run...

Yea man sure thing. Which pics do you want? Do you want pics of the top reflector with the lights attached or pics with the side reflectors?

Just let me know...

Thanks you for the highest of compliments sir. Heath is who I set out to emulate. And...

I hope YOU kill it too. Always check your thread for updates and it looks like the new run is ballin. :tiphat:

Hey man I don't exactly know the distance of the canopy to the bulbs because its something that I didn't really worry about when I designed the system. Also... I think that this distance could be manipulated with training and screen. But...

The racks are exactly 48" across and the bulb is directly in the center. This plants are sticking out anywhere from 10-18 inches so I would imagine the canopy is probably a foot or so away from the bulbs. I remember Heath preachin 18" away from the bulbs so that is something to shoot for, but I think even a bit closer as long as you have a floor fan moving air is better.

Sorry if that didn't answer your question. Just let me know.

Right on man! I've about had it with my system. And seeing yours all but sealed it's fate. Im probably gonna get 1 more run out of it then its firewood. I really am limited with 3 levels and 5 across for a total of 60 plants. And from the first run i had to leave the corner plants empty for even more limits. I just can't waste time with it anymore when i know the limitations, and what a new proper buildout will bring.

Major props to ya sir! And lookin forward to watching it get better and better.

Also, i think you probably know the answer to a question i have because you are running Aptus?

A few people have recommended that i should use Aptus facilitator and activaor in my grows. But iv'e also heard that it may not be very compatible in a recirculating aeroponic system?

BST everything looks great man, your attention to detail is amazing everything accounted for for sure. I seen this thread like 2 weeks ago and thought for the life of me I subbed it but didn't I am so glad I stumbled upon it again. Truly Inspiring. A quick question though, have you thought about putting a MH in between the 2 HPS in the vert? I am sure it wouldn't hurt if not help. Again everything looks wonderful

Hey bro, actually I am not running aptus. I have the most simple nutes ever. Just use two part flora duo and follow the feeding chart. But...

I WILL most definitely be using aptus in the next run. Have heard too many good thins about it no to try it. And...

Have done lots of research on it and Aptus themselves say you should not leave it in your res for more than 3 days. That stuff would have to be the best product ever to make it worth changing your entire res every 3 days. I would suggest just giving them a call because I have heard their support guys are amazing and will do anything they can to help.

You got it, thank you!

looking good homie.....your killing that shit. MVP MVP MVP!!!

Haha. When you postin your new racks?

Ha will be taking down in a few days and posting some pics. Hopefully this thing yields. Getting excited about seeing the finished product.

No I havn't thought about that. TBH that is something I havn't done a whole lot of research into. What would be the advantage of having two different spectrums? Very curious...
