I was wondering if anyone here does this or has done it?
I'm getting ready to put my room together and it was suggested to vent through the sewer which sounds pretty easy to do but my concern is how safe is it?
The thought of sewage backing up into my basement makes me gag.
High all, I have vented through the sewers regularly with a 6 inch inline fan and it works wonders! By the time it gets to the main (where there could be woirkers)no one can smell anything for sure!
Don’t forget to use a damper to keep the smell out.

Nice set-up 420 ...except for when ya' gotta take a shit. LOL
If you ever do that again, get a toilet flange and bolt it upside-down onto the existing toilet flange. You'll have a more solid mount and save yourself a shit-load of taping because you can just glue ABS connectors to the new flange.
BTW - that set-up won't work in a basement. If there was ever a blockage, your fan would fill up with sewage. Some kind of anti-backflow device is needed to prevent that.
There's no need to mount the fan that close to the drain. Inline duct fans blow better than they suck, so you can mount the fan near the filter. That way, a sewer back up won't fill the fan.
