I have never done anything as small as closet, but given my current state of affairs i thnk this may be my best bet, anyone hve any thoughts about venting an air colled 1000 HPS from a closet without cutting through the walls? i guess i could just keep the door open during lights on......any other thoughts?

well i ran a 250watt with a scrubber into the wall but still ran into heat problems a 1000w imo would need a lot of ventilation to keep the small area cool

Hey Dood,

I run in a closet so I know what your going through.... the heat is a bitch, probobly the worst part about growing in a closet is the heat. I would say if going through walls is not an option get a new door for the closet and cut a 6"hole for exhaust and get a 12" darkroom vent. Now run it..

Scrubber----->Fan----->ACHood-----> out the 6" hole.

I would suggest a high cfm 6" fan like a vortex.

Just for reference I have run 800watts in my closet without air cooled hoods and a scrubber that was only rated at 200cfm and my temps stay in the mid 70's at the canopy. If you have a good Air cooled hood like a Silver Star you shouldnt have any problems... Hope this helps!

i think i wanna do a ebb and flow in a closet with an extra 400 on a mover(thats if my gf doesnt bitch slap me lol) i spend lots of time with my babies, maybe too much lol

I agree with northernchronic...get a cheap door and duct right through the top...like this

This is a 4" vortex cooling a 5 x 4 x 6 closet with a vertical 400halide and 4' 8bulb T5 and works great. I just have it dumping into my main flower room as that room has more than enough exhaust :headbange

cutting into wall or ceiling shouldn't be a concern, keep the piece you cut out, then when you leave you can just patch it and paint.

Na the walls are an issue because they are real old plaster lath walls not sheetrock, so A getting through them is a total bitch even with proper tools and B i do not know if i can repair. The cheap door seems to be the winning idea. Thanks yall.

dont go cutting the door up... buy something called rmax at homedepot. its sheet insulation get the 2" thick one and just cover the door with it. screw it up or whatever, you can even foiltape it to the trim. no holes or anything, great for rentals.... seal it with foiltape so your lightproof.... then cut exhaust hole at the top, darkroom louver's at the bottom. and your doorway in the middle....make 2 doors outta poly and velcro you entrance hole closed for air and light seal...you follow me? or do I sound cazy?....lol....Ill take a pic of something similar in the morning...its actually really cheap, simple, and effective...and you dont really even have to cut or screw or damage anything...great for rental stealth closets...peace
