Ventillation Question???

I am a first time grower and have a few quesitons about ventillation. My setup is a 4.5 foot wide, 4.5 foot deep and 8 foot tall room. 7 Plants under a 40w Fluro tube for initial vegitation. Then throw them under a 400w HPS bulb for vegitation/ flowering.

The temperature with the fluro tubes and a small desk fan is about 26C at 30% humidity. And i have yet to test temp/ humidity with the HPS.

I calculated the CFM of my room to be roughly 70CFM. Does this sound about right? Will a 80CFM fan be enough? Also what kind/company should i look at because i am on a tigh budget?

I was not planning on running the 400w in a cool tube and im not going to use a carbon filter. I was thinking of purchasing an exhaust fan from Home Depot. They have some online selling for about $60 and can put out 110CFM. If it is powerful enough to circulate air through a washroom is it not powerful enough for a 162 cubic foot grow room.

As i am a first time grower i would really appreciate some advice from on this. I will post some photos in a few days

Cheers

Heres my exp. with a 400watt. I had a similar set up...closet grow exhausting air back into the room the closet was in. This worked OK but it was my bedroom and it got to HOT to be comfortable. Since I was exhausting back into the bedroom the air was never really going anywhere. It would heat up in the closet, then be exhausted into the bedroom but b/c it was a closed loop it would then just be sucked back into the closet and heat up more. Only when I exhausted the heat up through into the attic was I able to maintain comfortable temps. BTW I was using a dayton blower 265cfm.

Now I couldn't open a window...it seems like you can. If your exhaust is going to be closed ie not venting outside or into the attic, you will probably need that window to get rid of some heat

The 110cfm home depot fan is borderline. It may work it may not. more later

get a stanley blower if your on a budget. 50 bucks and can do 100-250cfm.

and no carbon filter? thats not a smart idea.

stanley blower will be a good choice for you, 50 bucks for the fan, and then maybe 20 bucks for supplies. lookin the DIY Threads =)

I dont think you will have any problems, I run a 53 inch tall , 40 inch long, 22 inches wide cabniet in my closet (kinda small for a 400) with vent to the room (Leave the window open in the winter, air conditioning in the summer) and I have a cool tube, I run mid 70's easy.

All I can say is TEST TEST TEST, test your temperatures in so many different setups and see what works before you place your plants, good luck bud!

i agree with rasta no filter is not a good idea, you also might wanna rethink that cooltube if you plan on using a hps or mh in there.just my two cents yo.peace-Y-

look online at greenhouse sites. some of them have calculators for recomended cfm that you can enter your dimensions into.

well you cfm is going to be at least 150 cfm, as your room dimensions add up to 141.75 cf

And I agree with Y here, you are going to have serious heat issues in there
