ventillation help?

Here's the situation:

- a 4' x 8' silver hut in a small room w/ 2 x 600 W HPS 6" air-cooled hoods
- a 6" in-line 400 cfm fan to pull both hoods
- a 6" can filter for odors
- also a speed reducer for in-line fan

Should this be ventilated right out the window next to the AC unit? I'm concerned about outside noise and appearance. Would have to run through a reducer to minimize hole leading to window for appearance, too. This would restrict air flow?

Winter is approaching so I guess I could ventilate into the attic but would warm moist air from 4 Powergrowers in a cold attic invite mold? Would increased heat during summer make the attic too hot? Is there a good ceiling patch for houses? :)

I appreciate all help as I would like to keep this as stealth and efficient as possible!

respect always,

ill

I wouldn't vent it out the window. You could duct it right out the end of the attic and it'd just look like another vent up there. That way you'll also avoid over heating the attic in winter and giving yourself the dreaded "snow free" grow house look.

I could disconnect our bathroom fan and run it into that vent (which vents outside). The only problem us that I think it is 4" ducting and I would need a reducer. That would cut down on air flow or is it not that bad?

thanks again

If the total run of 4" ductwork isn't very long it can be doable, but the longer the run is the more fan you're going to need to push through 4".

Does the fan have to be directly next to the 4" reducer or can I run some 6" ducting to the attic vent where I would then have a reducer on the end.

many thanks
