Ventilation help?

Hey I have a 3ft x 3ft x 6ft tent and have a 6inch inline fan as an exhaust out the top I'm trying to figure out how I should to my ventilation. I have total intentions on doing a passive intake but I have two questions

I have a 4 inch hole on the left side of tent and a 6 inch in the back. How do I go about proper ventilation without the light leaks and all the negative pressure and also how high should my settings be on my 6inch exhaust fan.

Even with both 6 and 4 inch holes on bottom open and the 6inch exhaust fan on lowest setting I get a lot of negative pressure. What do?

Why are you worried about negative pressure?

I like negative pressure in my room because I know any air going out is through my filter.

I'm getting way too much negative pressure. My tent looks like its about to implode. My clip fans won't stay on the rails due to it. Almost cuts the space around my tent in by 20 percent. Is it supposed to be that negative lol

Lol. Ya that's some serious neg pressure. Either you'll need to add an intake fan or reduce your outake fan.

What are you temps like? Do you need all that exhaust to keep the temps down or could you just get a fan speed controller to reduce the speed?

I'm a fan of having as much air moving as possible so I would just an an intake fan that has slightly less CFM than your outtake fan. Keep a bit of negative pressure but still have lots of fresh air coming in and out.

...that's on its lowest setting with a controller... Haha. Its a 6inch active air intake on the top as a exhaust.

My left light on for a few hours and it peaked at like 80 or 81 and its lows were like 78 I think I remember seeing. With the lights off and fans running it was at 68. Humid is around 35 to 40

Ya if your temps are that high and you have that much neg pressure your going to need an active intake. Or cool the room that the air is coming in and lower the fan even more. You can get separate fan speed controllers for like $20.

I'm not in a tent but I use outtake/intake fans to control me temperatures. I use one of these.

Hook up my exhaust and intake fan to it and you have full control over day and night temps.

I thought those temps were good for grows. That controller controls both intake and exhaust at different speeds? Another question haha, should my fans be turned off during lights out?

Ya those are good temps. I was just thinking if your temps were lower you could reduce your exhaust even more to reduce you neg pressure.

That controller just controls fan speed basically. Temp get hot, fan speeds up. Temp gets low, fans reduces speed. So basically since you want both your exhaust and intake to speed up if your temps get too high then you just connect them to the controller with a splitter. Does that make sense?

As for lights off its doesn't matter. Since the photosynthesis process doesn't happen at night the plants don't need co2. They actually release co2. I just use the fans to control the temperature at night. During winter when its cold the fans will turn off to keep the heat up during night. During summer I will keep them running. However I do have to run a dehumidifier if my fans stop running during night cycle since the RH will spike big time if your room is full of plants and you don't have fans running. Also if smell is a concern its good to have the fans always running so air getting pulled through your filter.

What do you think I should do In my situation? I have a 4 inch and 6 inch hole on the bottom of my tent and the one 6 inch for the exhaust fan. The fan is on its lowest setting with the controller I have now and it still pulls in my tent that much. Should I buy a 4inch inline? Orrrrr? This will be my first grow so I'm sorta clueless.

What fan do you have right now for exhaust?

Getting a 4" fan for intake would probably work good. Leave the 6" hole open for a passive intake and you'll be good. It will take a bit of messing about over time to dial it in but that's normal. Always takes time to dial in your environment.

I have a 6 inch active air fan with a speed controller. How will,o know when its dialed in. What should I look for.

Just getting the proper temperatures and humidity. If you didn't have the major neg pressure collapsing your tent you be good. Well a higher RH would be nice but I wouldn't worry about that for now. You just need to force some air in there to counteract that neg pressure

I ordered a 4 Inch active air fan and fan controller. That should hopefully do it.
