How come so many of the oil recipes mention canola oil and not vegetable oil? Is there a benefit to using canola or can I prepare vegetable oil in the same manner I would canola?

Any vegetable or nut oil will work. Canola is just good and it is cheap.

It is actually Rape Seed oil that has been bred for lower erucic acid, so as to no longer be toxic to human beings.

I cook with it but usually don't use it oral meds because it has a heavy viscosity and strong flavor.

In a topical, it leaves a lot of residue.

For flavor, I like the nut oils, though some people are allergic to them.

I usually use sesame or coconut oil for oral meds if I don't know who is going to be using it.

Coconut oil is a low residue oil for use as a topical.
