Veg time and yield

For an upcoming grow im debating whether to veg for 15 days or a month. Time constraints may be an issue so I may not have a choice. Assuming everything is the same like light, container size, fertilizers, etc. how much is yiled affected if I was to veg for only 15 days compared to a month? Anyone have experience with differences in veg times and yields from previous grows? Thanks

Are you talking about seedplants here?I cant see vegging a seedplant for 2 weeks then flowering it thats an immature plant for sure,I'd go a month minimum

my test

my test

my grow with power plant from dutch passion, one with 30 days veg and other one week veg, its almost similar. but veg one has more lower branch and fat bud (they are from seed and same pheno). and other only top bud.
both finished with 60 cm. but yield is kind diferent.
my opinion:
fewer plants ( m2), more time to veg.
more plants in( m2), less time to veg.

that is not a very good question mate, i'm sorry but these things can't be accurately answered without knowing a whole lot more details about the individual situation and strain involved.

on the whole one can say that clones don't need such a long veg phase to do well as a seed plant will. in a see of green type set up on coco slabs, it's enough to veg the plants for a few days only.

if on the other hand you are talking about bushes or trees, then you will profit from a good 3 to 4 weeks of veg. much longer then that should not be necessary with HPS lighting, unless you are going for a tree grow of some 100% indica with no stretch to speak of. so each situation has different rules really.

longer is better
clones are much better than seeds for that purpose, you don't wanna flower an immature plant.

Seedplants should be vegged until one of two things happen, the plant gets preflowers of starts with uneven branching.

there is always the middle ground. If you want to veg for 15 days since time is an issue train them for the 15 days to get the most out of it. Instead of letting them go straight up with little branching, you could top them, Fim, LST . In order to get the most out of the short time.

Thanks everyone for your replies on this. My situation grow wise will be this:

Nirvana Papaya from seed (for bud, not seeds)
250w HPS/MH (conversion bulb), if too hot than 340w flouro light (85w CFL x 4)
Tree style growing preferred
3 gallon container for flowering
Nursery Blend soil
PBP grow and bloom, Sweet, LK, Blast Off, Cal Mag, FF Tiger Bloom in flower

Papaya is a pure indica so the tree style is a good idea, but i could train some as well. Tell me what yall think. Thanks

make an even canopy, forget the tree style, its inappropriate for your wattage.

Also, if you can control the heat, use a 400W HPS instead 250W HPS/MH and 380W of flouros.

IMO.

In my situation its either the 250 HID vs. the 340 flouro. Its a closet and im renting so im not going to be drilling holes for ventilation all over the place, which i would like to do trust me. I keep good airflow throughout the closet. I can really only run the 250w HID in the winter months because of the cooler weather. Training sounds like my only choice with the flouros, works for me :joint:

imo the longer the veg, the higher the potential yield

I've grown seeds straight in flowering 12/12 and they yield on average a 20-30 gram dry under 400 watt HPS

Thats not too shabby for going straight to 12/12. I dont grow for quantity, but mostly for quality. Im thinking of just vegging for 10 days, 15 at the max then right into flowering. I think this go around I may just have to put down more seeds and hope for more ladies. Thanks for your info

Genetics play the biggest part when starting out on a 12/12 photocycle, you may get 30 grams or maybe 3 grams,it all depends on grandma and grandpa
