veg lighting question....

so im wondering about how much it will cost to run my 250w hps 24hrs or 18rs for veging....im using so many floros and it is taking to long if the cost is not to bad i would like to use my sodium for a faster veg....and i know someone is going to sugjest using a metal halide but just fyi....thats not in the budget right now so what do you guys think...as always ur input is needed and apreciated.???

250's a good!!

About 20 to 30 bucks 24 hours,but go 18/6..
Keep them about a foot or 2 away 6 inch fan.
i use 1 myself!

I'd say in the states 10 to 30 dollars depending on whether you pay roughly a dime per KWH like I do(13 cents) 20 cents a KWH or 30 cents a KWH.33 cents a KWH seems to be common in California,13 cents in Florida.Most fall in between

Unless you are on an extremely low budget (no problem with that by the way), I would say go for the floros. Unless your 250w HPs has a nice blue specrtum of light it is going to cause your veggging plants to stretch a bit, and stretch is never good in veg. The floros give little heat, which means an easier less stress, and you can get them much closer.

Im sure people will say throw the HPS in there and toughen them up, but if your grow space is that small, you are growing for personal and the less stress the better the smoke.

watts x how many hrs using watts x how many cents per kwh you pay...divide by 1000 = how much you pay for the hrs you chose in the equation...i would run the light 18/6...i veg almost all of my plants under hps

(Over 1000 kWh at $0.062950)
Non-fuel:
(First 1000 kWh at $0.041530)
(Over 1000 kWh at $0.051850)

so that means its .09$ per first 1000 and 11 every khw after that??

and by the way you can put a mh bulb in your hps ballast or get a conversion bulb if you dont believe you can...i also use mh bulbs in my hps ballast when i feel like it...it just shortens the life of the mh bulb...which i dont care there cheap

they deregulated energy and you have many options...change electric companies and get a locked in rate...thats what i did makes the math easy...

its about nine cents per kilowatt hour where i am...im just sick of having to do all the meunevering with the floros ...if i used the 250w i could just move it up and down and it would speed things up...well im leaning towards the 250 and i am on a tight ass budjet im switchin jobies lol....so let me know what u think would be better for a 2foot by 2 foot scrog..well ventilated..oh and what would it cost a month on 18/6 scheduelle at that price ??

250 watter will always be better than your floros...bottom line

at .9 cent per kwh x 12 hrs per day x 250 watts = 27000 divide by 1000 = you pay .27 cents per 12 hr period with your 250 watter
