Veg lighting 16/8 vs 4/2/4/2/4/2/4/2

I screwed up and ran my veg room under a 16/8 lighting....

the plants werent happy some began to put out pistils and nonveg type leaves....

I then came back to 4/2/4/2/4/2/4/2 and my plants immediately responded to 100% veg.....

I have been running 4/2/4/2/4/2/4/2 for a couple years...

helps with high temps in summer.....

Highly recommended....

compare with 20/4 as far as keeping your veg plants in veg....

Just something to think on....

This is also an indication that the plant doesnt flower based on shorter days.... but does so based on continuous hours of darkness....

In my case the maximum length of any dark period is only 2 hours...

not sufficient to tell the plant to flower....

In 16/8 the 8 consecutive hours of darkness was sufficient to signal some of my plants to flower.....

sounds stressfull.i know id hate to have that sleeping schedule.

I would also feel comfortable thinking that

8/4 8/4 would also get there..... since there is only 4 hours of darkness during any period.....

The plants suffer no apparent ill effects at all from the light cycle....

It makes sense like the gaslantern 12on/4.5/1on/4.5/ same thing they won't flower because the night is never more than 4.5 dark. I've always wanted to do some light tests varying the pattern and length what is the most efficient use of power.

theres the 12-1 method also, im KISS fan myself,
20/4 for veg then 12/12 to 13/11 to 10/14 for bloom

plant flowers because of build up of a hormone produced during dark period

was just told about 11/2/11 cycle to keep outdoor from flowering in the late season

interrupt the flower cycle in the middle of its dark period

keep them veging with less light in a green house situation

If you want my opinion i use 24/0.... the plants from my first grow responded so well to it im going to be doing this for a very long time. They require tons more water but if u have the time to water them your set! First test grow i did i got 2 ounces per plant and that was 4 weeks of veg and 6 weeks of flower only (i harvested early due to unforeseen circumstances)

If i was to veg longer and flower longer i would of easily gotten 4oz+ per plant
