veg chamber

Im planning on a veg/mom/clone chamber into my growroom. I only have a bit horizontal space so i guess fluoros would be better/more efficent for this use.
At start this chamber would be used for 1 mom, and if i get hold of any other nice sort(damn hard to get seeds here, cant order too becoz theres a good chance that cops would visit in the next 3 months) i would like to grow 3-4 plants to get another mom and so on. Also this would be the area for cloning ~12 plants in a bubblecloner.
i Plan on a 40cm x 140cm x 120cm box with 6x36w t8 fluoros, and install them so they could be adjusted for height. Would this be overkill for this purpose ? I mean, the mothers should be okay with less right ? im worried about the veging im gonna do there, will those plants be okay/could they be okay with less ?

Could you translate that into feet for us folk ignorant of the rest of the worlds weights and measures?I knew it would happen way back in the late seventies, denying American kids knowledge of weights and measures used internationally was a move indicative of many idiots crowded into the same room!Enough.Have you considered not using mothers and doing a perpetual grow? Its too simple and alleviates the need for extra room and the work caring for mom's entails.Simply take a few cuts from near the bottom of each pheno you want to keep shortly before or the day you go 12/12 with her, then root those cuts veg them out and when the time comes,do the same. You can keep a pheno viable years and years this way.I preveg with a couple 4 ft 4 lamp T-8 "wraps",I cant say enough about flo for veg/preveg.If the growtips are kept within 1/4 or 1/2 inch under the lamps at all times, you cant do much better up to 10-12 inches in height IMO.

Well if i take the clones before flower, i would still need an area to veg them in. In the long run i cant see the difference. Are you saying that i would have problems with plants larger than a foot? But btw, i have my plants in flower right now, and i plan on taking clones from them for the next bunch. How long will it take them to take root in a bubblecloner ?

last month i took a flowerin cut and it took 13 days to get a root and the same plant is still in a suspended animation. not worth it really. i'm just keepin it to see what it does, i'm not tryin to keep the genetics or anything, just fukkin with my plants. man is my life borin or what. heheh.

Yea unless you go immediately to flower with a cut,it has to be taken before 12/12 or you will experience funky leaf growth and pistilly vegging clones, two things you dont want.Yea that a lot smaller than I figured,if keeping moms is a better plan for your growstyle,by all means do it.Just suggesting another option.Whatever you do,take your cuts before 12/12 always if you plan on giving them any vegtime.

You kiddin I love my T-8's,if you're going to keep them small its best IMO.So long as you keep those growtips literally on the lamps(well 1/4 inch away. The uppermost fans may need to be bvent down sometimes, and the lights will need to be adjusted up a half inch or so each morning. At two or three inches you lose your edge over a low wattage HID for vegging small plants.Keep them close.

hm i have a 250w mh that i dont have any plans for, but fluoros seem better for this purpose, dont you think ? First off the even light distribution, then theres 40w less power needed, which is not much but still. And foremost there will be minimal heat.
I dont have the fluros and they will cost ~100$. Would you guys use a 250w mh and cooltube it or get em T8's? Damn cant decide:(

Yes,my 250MH has sat untouched for years. It OK to do a couple plants, maybe four.Try vegging 10-20 plants to 12 inches with internodes so tight it reminds me of,well, that was a dream anyway..
