Vaulted ceilings

Imagine a 15 x 20 room with vaulted ceilings. |^| sort of like that, use ur imagination untill the usb cord for my digi comes in. Im considering the option of lightstands but id like to know if anyone here could help me out with a way to hang up a 3 fan 3 coil heat exchanger and 2-6 1000ws (maybe more if i find out a way to hang stuff.)on a room that has a triangle fault in the ceiling? With the lights am I going to have to just get a ladder and even out the chains. Will the hooks hold if the their screwed in at a angle like that?

I want this whole room airsealed and im pretty stuck on the best way to hang things. :chin:

hang a 2x6 across the ceiling and hang your lights from that. Use bolts screwed into the ceiling rafters for integrity.

If you don't want to (or can't) fasten to the ceiling, you could build a framework of 1.5" PVC pipe to support the gear. You can also build a tent of mylar or reflectix or whatever reflective material you prefer over the pipe (think of a tent frame).

hey pug how are you planning to vent the lights and room.... i have vaulted ceiling and was going to use the space that the trusses create between the roof and the ceiling...

basicly cut a hole between the trusses and vent into the gap and the air will go out throught the vent thats on the end of the house (gable end vent)....

thanks,

I had the similar situation, but I didnt want to put any holes in the walls. So I used 2x4's to build a box inside my room.

More than sturdy enough to hang lights from, even my heavy a@$ carbon filter. The only problem I had was figuring out how to hang the filter flush with the ceiling.

Provided you dont get snow cover on the roof. I can spot the attic grows in my city just driving around. They are usually the ones with odd or little snow cover, odd like only half the roof is melted or theres only snow on the eves of the roof.

That was the first thing I did some years ago after the first snow fall, check the roof for snowmelt over the grow area. 100% snow covered :woohoo:

Here is all you need.

Cable - depending on weight requirements, 90lbs = 3/32", 144lbs = 1/8", etc.

Eye hook threaded to screw into wall studs on opposite sides of the room.

Cable clamps to clamp the wire in a loop to slide up and into the eye hook.

The other side of the rooms eye hook will hold your next peice which is a turnbuckle which will hold your loose slack in the cable tight.

Attatch the cable in a loop on each side which you will need to do the turnbuckle side last so you can pull the extra slack out before you clamp that loop into the cable.

Then start tightening the turnbuckle to make it pull the slack out. It should be very tight so that it doesn't want to give much and holds it strength. This should hold the world. The wood does have a weight limit that it can hold so I wouldn't suggest putting more than like 100-150lbs on it per beam set.

You can drill out the beams to make screwing in the eye hooks easier. I do not use the same size diameter drill bit, i got 1/8" less. You wanna use a drill bit that is the size of the shank of the eye hook, without the threads, that way the threads can dig outside of the hole you drilled out for a good tension stretch grip.

vaulted ceiling such as you describe are often built with scissor trusses so there will often be an attic space that can be crawled through above that rooms ceiling although you wouldnt think that at first...

the eves will be to tight to get into but at the peak you might have 3 or 4 feet of space to run ducts etc...
