Vacation in April (420), Bay Area (CA) or Denver/Ft Collins?

K

KMK0420

Me and my buddy are flying out that way this summer...we just need to decide on one of the above.

I originally figured California, you know, golden gate park for 420 i hear its nuts...but my buddy said he went through encino and was disgusted at the place...i thought CA had the fresh air, tons of sun and amazing looking people? lol...

On a real note yes we planned to hit up a few places within range of where we stayed but again we aren't too sure if CA really has much more to do compared to Denver... or Colorado in general...we'd rather toke up and go check out mountains n shit.

Also, obviously a big concern is we will be dry once we land, and i'm assuming from what i've heard the best way to land some good bud (no nasty wet commercial) is to kinda start up a convo with someone leaving a med club...or something of that nature...or party with some people who might look like they have a med card, etc

Any input on either situation (Denver/Ft Collins vs somewhere in CA?) Also, any input on getting meds ASAP after landing without rising attention? PM me responses to this question please (if you have a response)

What, exactly, are you into? What do you want to do? What do you want to see? Pot is a non-issue in either place. You'll find some.

Speaking for myself, I'd do the 4/20 thing in Boulder. I don't really like most Boulderites in general, in fact I made a thread about it it pissed me off so bad, but it's definitely a worthwhile thing to experience. youtube-search 4/20 boulder. Real crazy. It's also insanely beautiful. Lotsa trustafarians and douchebags but lots of cool stoners as well. Probably more pot per capita than anywhere cept' norcal/bay. I'd rent a car and just drive around, hitting various mountain towns for a cup o' joe and shoot the shit with locals for a minute. I'd make sure I was armed with some bear spray and hit a few hiking trails in the mountain. No bullshit about the spray, either. Optimally I wouldn't roll in the mountains without a hand gun, but the spray is good. Big cats and such are more the worry than bears, but both are a legit concern.(Seriously, not being dramatic. Shit is dangerous).

Whatever you do, bring a camera. I forgot mine on my last holiday and I'm still steaming.

I advice take some herb with you just incase, and go to denver. Bring camping gear, and lots of warm shit. wool, and gortex. not cotton. then drive to rocky mountain national park. get there early on a week day to get a camping spot in summer. winter should be emty. It cost 20 dollars a night to camp in the park. the best spot to camp is at longs peak camp site. check my thread. RMNP is amazing. If you go in april it shouldnt be crowded, but it will still be cold. Dress warm, and you will have the whole park to yourself.

I toked hash on top of longs peak 2 summers in a row. oh ya bagging longs peak is not for unexperienced hikers, dont summit unless you know what you are doing. Do near by estes cone instead. same trail head. Longs peak is the 6th most dangerous mountain peak in the US because of lighting and hail storms that can pop up in like 10 minutes in the summer.

When day hiking in the rockies always be prepared to be able to spend a night out doors incase of emergency. In your day pack you need. A knife, 2 sources of fire, first aid kit, real rain gear, not the cheap stuff, and not just a cheap poncho. Good water proof and breathable rain gear will help keep you from getting hypothermia which is the number one cause of death in the mountains. You will also need a water filter, small tarp, warm cloths layer to go under rain gear which also doubles as wind shell. and one change of under cloths including socks. Dont forget a pair of gloves or a beenie either. It get cold at 1400 feet even in july their is snow at that altitude.

That sounds like fun Zepp!

KMK0420 you might want to consider LA....being in your 20s and stoners, you would prolly enjoy Venice, Hollywood, Magic Mountain has tons of killer roller coasters, go to Big Bear Lake up in the mountains (great hiking!) and so much more....and everything is sooo close with a car. Oh...and we do have the most beautiful women:pimp3:

Go to the Civic Center Park about an hour or two before 420 there will be thousands of people there toking up in front of the capitol building. They usually have live entertainment and shit.

KMK...we talked in chat the other day...Hippie Hill at Golden Gate Park in San Fran, is very chill on 4/20...lots of stoners just hanging out, a big drum group playing music, last year the weather was amazing and a bunch of icmaggers hung out and smoked hard!
Santa Cruz [an hour or so from San Fran] is also a great place to go on 4/20...tons of college peeps and the ocean, cant beat that!

What ever you choose will be fun Im sure!

She's right, I get stoned in Golden Gate park with friends from time to time. It's beautiful.
But you also have Yosemite, Big Basin, Point Reyes.

Personally if you want to chill in a really unique stoner, slice of hippy culture, I would check out Bolinas on the coast past Stinson Beach. About 45 minutes north of SF and most of that is because the road is curvy. Weak surf, lots of people in a time warp from the '70's and good eats. Small sleepy town, but mostly because everyone is stoned.

SF Bay area costs $$ , but there are hostels and cool places to stay in the national parks if you know your way around.

I've found some amazing cheap places to stay on surf trips around the bay area.

Good luck and have fun.

san francisco is such an amazing and beautiful city, if you have never been there, definitely go there. it is a city for people who love cities. urban masterpiece. the golden gate is truly awe-inspiring. industrial art at its finest.

plus, when you want to get out, the ocean is right there. head south on the calfornia coast...half moon bay, santa cruz, monterey, big sur, san luis obispo, santa barbara (these are getting closer to LA and are not 'day trips.' or go north. or go to tahoe or the sierra nevadas. i am sure CO is cool, but it seems it would be hard to compare Denver to San Francisco in terms of things for young (or young at heart) ppl to do.

Did you decide yet? I would hit up, Cali... Im from CO and it will most likely be cold. It's more what kind of 'scene' you want to be in, as it was previously mentioned, dank won't be an issue, neither will good beer. Cheers, dal

I've been to both places, and I'd go to San Francisco, no contest. San Francisco is the best city in the US!
