Uvonair /// Ozone gens

Hello guys,

I'm looking into possibly buying an ozone gen specifically a Uvonair 1000 which is rated for 1000 cubic ft rooms my room is half that size at most. I've heard of people running these on a timer at 15minutes on 45minuets off. If you're constantly exhausting air does this become an issue??

I spoke with the guys at uvonair and they told me that they recommend leaving the unit on at all times unless you exceed .05 ppm of Ozone.

I'm looking for reassurance that my room won't let off odours using this unit!

Setting up carbon filters seems like it will be too much of a pain as the big big filters would take up half of my grow area and be a PITA to hang as they weigh 70lbs.

Thanks,

If your grow is so small that the size of a carbon filter will take up too much space you certainly shouldn't be using ozone. Read up on ozone, it really isn't a good choice for odor control in grow rooms. I don't care what Uvonair says, they are unhealthy, irresponsible and can be dangerous.

Carbon filters.

Ozone can definitely be dangerous. If u have a small grow consider a can filter. They're not that difficult to use. Ozone is an extreme measure.

http://www.arb.ca.gov/research/indo...lecules it's supposed to take out of the air.

The size of the filter I've been told I'll need is massive :x

I'm exhausting outdoors also so I don't think the Ozone is that much of a health risk.

I am a bit concerned about the time the ozone has to react with the odor molecules.

I've had my ozones for years and I keep them on 24/7. No smells at all. I don't know how bad they are for the enviroment but I'm not concerned with that. I'm concerned with staying out of jail. The carbon scrubbers work good too though, if you get a huge one but you still have to get new ones which is a pain in the ass. I only use my Ozone if I can exhaust all that air outside. Sometimes I can smell it and it smells like burnt plastic. Probably not a good thing.

Overkill is under-rated.

You shouldn't have an ozonator in a room with plants or people, thats what carbon scrubbers are for. If it's too big or heavy use two smaller units. I usually recommend a CAN50 or equivalent per 1KW in lighting, it's better to have way too much than almost enough, every time.

Me too, if anything it's good for the environment given all the smog we have in the city!

Can you recommend anything for a 500 cubic ft room? I can only assume my best bet is the Uvonair 1000 model rated for 1000 cubic ft rooms.

Any advice on how to position it in regard to ducting? I want to have 2 x exhaust fans on a controller and I was thinking having the Ozone near the intakes for the exhaust.

I use an ozone generator, but in conjunction with a carbon filter. The ozone generator I use is the OZN-1which is meant for 5000 square feet, I run it 15 on, 15 off, in my bedroom which is around 400 square feet. It does help with the odor, but it isn't enough to eliminate it; without the carbon filter an ozone generator will not be enough

I'll second that. They work and work well.

Maybe some of these guys can join a green-peace site if they want to lecture about the environment.

Are you speaking generally or in your case.

The fact that your ozone is only on half the time leads me to believe it would be more effective running continuously.

If the guy told you to use a Uvonair 1000 for a small room like that he's a retard and could have put you into a dangerous situation. (Edit: if you are exhausting straight out then it should more then do it) That machine would fill that room up with dangerous amounts of ozone in less the 5min. I used the CD 100-2 to remove odour from my car. Works good but man it fills up fast and you can eventually smell it outside of the car.

Having said that ozone does work but you'll need a baffle box or about 25 feet of ducting past the ozone machine to give the ozone time to eliminate itself and the smell. If you don't and vent is straight out you'll be able to smell the ozone where its vented out. If you are venting out of the roof of your house it might be ok.

Also make sure the ozone machine is is hooked up to the same circuit as the exhaust fan just increase the fan trips the breaker and it'll also shut off the ozone machine. Also install a back draft dampner just in-case the fan stops but the ozone doesn't, it'll keep a lot of the ozone from backing back into the grow groom.

For a charcoal filter match it for the CFM of your exhaust fan. Usually a room that size would be 500-700 CFM filter

From the EPA-"Available scientific evidence shows that at concentrations that do not exceed public health standards, ozone has little potential to remove indoor air contaminants."

Don't use ozone, it'll screw you up unless you exhaust it outside
