UVB bulb experts needed!

I am thinking about using the cfl uvb lamps on the current grow and I was just wondering how far they should be from the plants as well as how many square feet each bulb will cover. I tried searching but all I could find was just how well they work.

Any advice is appreciated!

havent tried them, been thinking about it though. heard they do wonders for the trichs. i would just use the same cautions you use for any other lighting. id think to get any type of benefit you would need at least a couple of them mister postman uses them, maybe get with him.

just got me 2 of these, a lizardlight is your best bet.

the bulb actualy has a builtin reflector (just a chrome piece fo metal over 1/2 the bulb it is top quality. i didnt get it online but thats the type of bulb, available localy at alot of petsmart or petco's

here is a pic of them.
i have a seperate timer on... from all the reaserch iv done the equator (prime UVB locations) has alot of UVB from 11am-5or6pm so i set my timer for 6 hours in the middle of my 12/12 this is my first -by design- run with this setup

-ive used a "BLACK LIGHT" before and withalot of problems in that grow i still had amazingly high potency stuff.

mine were 14$ at the local 'petco'

It's not just the duration but the intensity of the light that matters, something like 500uWatts per sq cm (equatorial rates at midday). Cfls wont do it and blacklight is just UV not UVB.

Also be careful in the grow room, make sure you wear long sleaves and UV resistant shades as the rays are harmful to skin and eyes.

I have a UVB bulb myself the Reptisun 1.0 one or whatever.. I danno how many u need or what.. I might try using it again to test on a plant top..

UVB helps kill odors also right? or is that UV? confusing :/ I need sleep lol
