Uva

Uva is a hybrid bred by Norstar for Subcool(RIP) of TGA, it's genetics are as follows: Norstar's selected "Oaxacan" (Mexican landrace) x Subcool's selected Querkle (Purple Urkle x Space Queen/"The Dude").

100+ Seeds will be sowed to select from the best examples available, I will document them here and if possible, produce f2's should corresponding male phenos be available.

Lol, the seeds were duds. 0/100+ successfully germinated. The ones that made it above ground were sick looking and died a few days after. I used the exact same methods as a polyhybrid I bred myself(my own seeds) and got 97% germination, I started 2 packs of - Red Scare Seed Co.'s- "Afghani Shit Show", over a year sitting in my veg room, now showing 90+% germination.

This is disappointing, I'm contacting the seed seller about a refund or viable seeds, but if they're all like this... what is the point?

96% now above soil, as opposed to 0-1%.

Damn, that sucks big time...
At least you have already done most of the work to pop another 100 ;)
I started another 120 or so of my seeds, that was about the space I was reserving for this hybrid, which I doubt I'll grow unless I get refund new seeds. So I'll wait and see.

Good luck this time!
Blessed are the ones with 100+ seeds in the stash ;) (y)
I got a response from the seedbank and I'm being shipped a different 100+ seeds- "Grape Lime Ricky", It's likely that UVA was no longer viable. I guess this is now a "Grape Lime Ricky" thread 😄

These being genetically similar to the UVA, but using entirely different parents.

Uva : Oaxaca x Querkle(Purple Urkle x Space Queen)

Grape Lime Ricky: Purple Urkle x Jack The Ripper(Jack's Cleaner x Spacequeen)

I actually prefer this hybrid if my criteria was purely chemotype based, the JTR has high potential for very very high THCV(stimulant/appetite suppression effect) reaching close to 25% or higher of total cannabanoids, it's also reliable in producing high thc chemotypes, every hybrid I've grown using JTR has been 🔥, starting with Chernobyl in 2011.

I chose uva initially because (landrace sativa x hybrid) are generally more phenotypically consistent when compared to a true polyhybrid, generally easier to select from f2's due to this fact, recessive phenos are starkly contrasted. This is what I wanted, but I can achieve something similar with this hybrid.

Grape Lime Ricky sounds great!
Im sure you will find a few with keeper potential, whats the plan then?
Keep the mothers and grow through the F2 or open pollinate the faves you will find?

I personally don't do open pollenation, I'm selecting males via comparison to other males offspring using the same females if multiple examples are available of the same phenotype.

separate locations and males, I will grow the males out first before using for pollenation, to completion, this is to remove any male presenting intersex plants(herms).

I sometimes smoke males, if they're good then I have another indicator of potency.

I'll probably use the purple f1 males on some purple plants in my garden if they produce quality offspring through inbreeding. Lots of bad traits can be compounded with inbreeding unworked polyhybrids like "Grape Lime Ricky", they are full of good and bad potential, it's all about what you observe and can replicate, what traits you select for or against.

1/100+ successfully germinated it was sickly but now seems to be pulling through, i hope it's a keeper.

my second batch are going to start being sown soon.

The distributor was sold out of the "Grape Lime Ricky" packs that day(fate?) so I went with "Grape Goo" (Afgooey x Querkle) so no THCV potential in this hybrid but very potent pain meds from the Afgooey parentage that produced terp rich/resinous flowers in all its hybrids.

I could be wrong but your soil looks very dense and compacted. Try mixing some peat moss with it and see if that helps.
