Using water from dehumidifier?

Is this cool? I run my dehuey during flowering and collect a lot of water. Now, my tap water comes out to 200-250ppm and I have trouble keeping ph in check.

I typically fill up a five gall bucket and bubble for atleast 48hours to get rid of chorline. Can i simply fill bucket with dehuey water? this would make getting water easier as i have no faucet in the basement and have to hump a lot of water upstairs and downstairs.

does any see a problem with this

Yesh, it's called "Pennywise, Dollar-foolish". Your de-huey is like a giant air filter and the condensate could very well be populated with spores or microorganisms that might just spell disaster for your plants.
I know, I know - thousands of you drink and wash from your condensate tubs everyday and show no harmful side effects other than making stupid posts on internet forums, but for me it's not worth the possible consequences...

That would suck hard nuts to loose stuff over random spores and such if you ask me. BUT, I'm sure the bacteria/microorganisms that evolve in the dehumidifier reservoir, exist because of the stagnate water in combination with warm temperature.

If you really want to use that water, get a "Total Microbial" water test kit. You can find them online or a big box hardware store, so you will have an idea what is is the water/air.

Keeping the water cold, bubbling with fresh oxygen, and a little hydrogen peroxide will keep bacteria in check.

Seeing that you will probably need more water than what the dehumidifier reservoir yields, tap water has enough chlorine in it, and the little bit of hydrogen peroxide from the reservoir, will mix and create TRACE amounts of hydrochloric acid.

It all comes down to what your wanting to spend time and learn about, just do some research on what you need to get it done, and make it happen... :tiphat:

hey budman- i've used rainwater and dehumidifier/ac run off for 5 yrs in my 5gal dwc system. i use subculture b which are beneficial bacteria that not only protect against algea, spores, bad bacteria but also help with nute uptake. not a big fan of peroxide.
