Took me a while to figure out why my roots have been lacking lately. I am starting to realize I have a brown slime (cyanobacteria?) problem. No matter what I do my white roots turn brown which leads to root rot. I am in coco.
My question is, will rootshield (trichoderma harzianum) do anything in a rez to combat the slime? Second, will it remain viable in the rez until it can establish itself in the media?
I have read a few accounts of people successfully using this to eliminate their brown slime problems in the rez and media, looking to confirm. I am not looking to attempt fighting this with chlorine, pool shock etc as everything I see leads to a losing battle with these tactics.
I've found a benny tea that has support which includes aquashield and a few other things brewed up and applied to rez, but rootshield in powder form seems to be a good alternative.
On rootshields website it does allude to effectiveness in a rez and advice on keeping it suspended but I am mainly wondering if it is at all effective in water or does it not take action until it is in a media.
