Using furnace heat to warm dark cycle only

I came up with a prototype contraption I wanted to share. Building a new room and I know I'll need some heat during lights off but trying to avoid more electric for a space heater. Came up with this so you can get furnace heat only wen you want it.

Run a new duct off an existing furnace line and inside a piece of ridged pipe a fix this- made out of metal tho and inserted inside the duct. This is a garden hose timer each on/off cycle moves a little wheel I can epoxy the rod to a quarter turn... So time it for two quick on/offs at beginning of dark and again two at end of dark it would effectively open and close the duct for you.

Heat with out adding more electrical use...

I'll repost once I get actual unit built

Awesome! Less cobble work! What is that called? I googled for something like it and found nothing...

Its a motorized duct damper. A simple thermostat would prevent it from opening when the lights were on, then as the room cools it would drive open. Might be a bit pricey, but pretty effective.
