hey guys, i was wondering. how do people get caught for growing in the US? i've heard alot of stories sayin its the electricity, but i heard they cant search your house on only high electricity usage. so how do people get caught? a friend of mine just got busted not so long ago, the cops came and raided the house.

Electricity is the problem, PG&E will notify the cops about the electricity then they can get a search warrant.

Do you know how he got busted? (ie. smell, ratted out, incriminating evidence in the trash?)

in terms of not getting busted, keep your mouth shut is number one, the only one that needs to know what you are doing is YOU! Number two is odor/noise control.

There was a recent bust to the south of my area where the cops found 186 plants outside. They were tipped off by someone, could be a neighbor with a grudge...could be a disgruntled business partner.

The spikes are only noticable if you have one of the "digital" electric meters. The ones with the spinning dial are manually read so it's impossible to see the spike.

You can run your lights at night so the meter isn't spinning like crazy when they come around to read your meter each month.

Why would PG&E intentionally try to get its customers arrested? That's the last thing they want. Police can request that information from PG&E to back up evidence they may already have against you, but PG&E isn't voluntarily handing out your information.

Amen to that, brother! The hardest thing for most newb growers to learn to do is to KEEP THEIR FUCKING MOUTHS SHUT. If you can manage not to share your fun new hobby with everyone, then you're good. That is, AS LONG AS you have taken the proper precautions regarding minimum stealth requirements i.e. sealing windows, scrubbing air etc.
