Depends on what's wrong with 'em. Might, but just might theoretically, if they haven't enough energy like sun or too many fan leaves pulled at once or massive root damage... you'd have to try... Advantage over giving sugar (glucose or honey) is that it won't lead to a massive microbial outburst .

Do you have any information using malic acid as a foliar spray?
