Unusually small, any thoughts? Bagseed.

Got it from a really purple bud. Only seed in a 3.5 bag. After 35 days from germ under 18/6 MH 400W it is only 5 inches tall.... Everything Ive ever run, or seen run is usually over 20 inches by 30 days. It is also quite funky already, If you do a quick stem rub. It smells incredible.

Any ideas wth kinda strain will only get 5 inches tall in 30 days under typical conditions, nothing weird or training going on.

I sort of grasp when to throw into 12/12. And I can tell if its male or female when ready. But Just curious if anyone has had similar with a strain they bought.

It's just a runt. If you have the space, patience, means & interest, let it grow to a decent size before inducing flowering.

Probably just lacking hybrid vigour...or a notoriously slow vegger.

@Jnugg : What you mean by hybrid vigour? like it was supposed to be a hybrid but looks weak? I think is def a hybrid of some sort, Kinda thinking it may be a bean from an auto, I hear they dont get big at all. And I have never actually seen one.

@Jhhnn : Thats cool if so, I never knew plants produced runts. I have the interest, means and patience. Just space could become a small issue, Suppose it depends how long it takes, how big it gets and what I already have goin. Well its 5" and beginning to get bushy. I figured when I see pre flower throw it under 12/12. What do you suppose a decent size would be for a runt? 12"?

That or larger, I suspect. If you're willing to carry it along, then you probably want to get *some* yield, anyway. It doesn't look like something that'll be explosively stretchy, either.

some people spend the entire grow tieing down and training their plants to be small, you're lucky, ye just gota watch, goodluck.

You could take a bag of seeds all the same strain and your going to end up with plants that are all slightly different, some are stretchier, some yield more or less, ect... Its called a phenotype, which are slightly varying genetic qualities. An important stage in advanced growing is hunting for the perfect pheno to match your style of growing. For example, I am working on a vertical screen so I need a plant that gets tall and branchy to fill in the screen, when you could perhaps be limited to a closet grow and hunt for a pheno thats a little shorty and bushier.

@ Jhnn: Im down for the ride, Lets find out.

@ al70: Very good point, forgot about that. Just shocked me now its day 40 since seed under 400w MH and is almost 7 inches. So I got 2 inches in 10 days. They say most stretch 2-3x size under 12/12. So if true I should get her up to about 2 feet .

@ coldcanna: Thanks for explaining that. I hear people talk about having good pheno's and not wanting to ask. Just figured I didnt. Well if that stinky little girl only gets 2 feet tall, Im not sure yet how id feel about it. I want personal, not profit. But I also dont want under 28g yield, Id smoke that in a week or two. Either way I got 2 successful female bagseeds, And never bought a bean, and now may never have to.

The rule I've always heard is veg your plant to 70% of what you want the final size to be. Depending on the plant type it might be slightly more or less than that, but that's the rule of thumb I've heard.

I also have a bag-seed that's about the same size and it's a month and a half old. I think part of it, or a lot of it, has to do with the size of the pot/container it's in. Mines in a large cup, though still very small, and it definitely seems to have stunted the growth, the roots have maxed out and not to mention the shitty soil I put it in. It looks like the pot your's is in is also relatively small.

Temps too cold at night? and or humidity too high.

@ anon : The size really isnt a concern so long as it does not clear 7 feet tall or 6-7 feet wide. Im just waiting until I can take two cuts from her, then considering switching to 12/12. Shes is 100% showing female, and I have a feeling im seeing the start of preflowers. BTW I heard that it will get 3x whatever height it is when you switch it to 12/12. So I hear you swap when its 33% of the height you want.

@ Murdakaii : With my purp bagseed, I got in a 12" tall by 4-5" wide pink pail made for a little girl to play in the sand. And is now growing at about 1-1/2" a week. Shes about 9" now. 44 days from germination.

@festerous : My other bagseed, then the clone of that bagseed grew normal in the same room. Humidity is normal both day and night. And my temps are high if anything. During the summer I had days of over 100. And Now days are low 90s. Nights never fall below 82.
