United for Care Florida: We did it.

Dear Tudo,
I have great news:
I believe we have collected the petitions we need to get on the ballot. Over 1.1 million in all.
This could not have happened without the amazing generosity of our thousands of donors - and in particular, our Chairman, John Morgan, who donated millions to this endeavor.
Literally thousands of volunteers contributed their time, collecting petitions in the rain and heat, on their weekends and holidays.
This is an enormous achievement - but even though we still await the ruling of the state Supreme Court, we need to get right back to work. We must shift this now into campaign mode - and help educate the millions of Florida voters who will hopefully be allowed to have a choice in November.
What we need now is volunteers and contributors who can help us make our case, door to door, online, and on TV.
If you would like to sign up to be a volunteer, please click here.
If you can make a contribution to the campaign, please click here.
Again - thank you for making this historic campaign possible.
Best,
Ben Pollara

I hate to bust everyone's bubble about Florida. As a life long(54 years), fourth gen. Floridian, it will be a cold day in hell when these redneck, backward, inbread, southern assholes, will let this pass.We have a republican State attorney, Pam Bondie, that's trying to keep it from even being discussed on the floor of the senate. John Morgan is doing a yomans work, and funding just about everything out of his pocket.BUT.......we have LOTS of rich assholes in this state. Just look at our thriving Governor. Largest Medicaid fraud in the USA, with his co, HealthSouth. Scammed 3, billion dollars, no jail time. Fuck no, he's our governor. 2016, Charlie Crist will be when smoke becomes legal.

But here's the kicker, with all of the evidence of medical uses and practical treatments for many ailments. Then all of the states passing laws to say pot is medicine, since the CDB's are shown to help seizure patient. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WILL HAVE TO RECLASSIFIE, TO A SCHEDULE 3/ so a doctor can prescribe.

The anti pot Illuminati runs thick in the South....goddamn redneck fuckers..stealing everyone blind with their plethora of easily broken laws designed to inflict the most damage to people while they fleece their families of food and bill moneys....in Texas, the road building and maintenance office - TXDOT - is giving grants to police forces to "enforce" seat belt laws and using a simple traffic stop to raid people's cars looking for big dope money and small amounts of drugs. Our roads lack repair as the politicians silently distribute money under the table for the cops...and the Highway Patrol here is moving retiree officers into judge and JP positions. Ultimately, they will control the whole government if they are allowed to continue...

as it gets voted in here then what will be the view of those who say it isn't possible in this backwards state.

most never thought they would be this close to voting for mmj laws but here we are awaiting the decision by the justices on if the people get to decide.

time will tell

i think we can do it, if not we keep trying. illinois had been sitting on the medical bill for decades. with an S. once people started getting informed, there was even a huge 8 page spread in the newspaper about MMJ. 1 year later, medical. a shitty version but a step in the right direction nonetheless.

last new years eve. aka about 20 days ago, i was in a metropolitan florida city outside smoking a blunt and so was everyone else around me (kush of some sort from the smell of it) cops were a few feet away. they did not give a shit.

it's coming man. just have patience and faith.

There r not many original Floridians in Florida anymore. People from the NE U.S & also from other countries dominate the southern part of Florida, at a minimum.

With that many signatures, I would hope that it would be impossible to block it.

I think "we" would get much quicker results, if the MMJ/legalization movement was handled alot like the civil rights movement was in the 60;s. What I mean is, organization & mobilization of resources to states that are making big progress.

My wife wants to move back to Florida (we left 9 years ago) but I have been sating "no" cuz if I move again.....I need to move somewhere that I am not considered an outlaw (she doesn't smoke). I would move back right now, if I knew this would pass in 14 or even 2016....

a local liberal newspaper (aren't they all?) says governor Scott will vote against MMJ law. The article also says Morgan is 90,000 signatures short the required 683,149 signatures. seems there is a conflict in the numbers.

MMJ bill has been proposed a number of times and it never receives enough attention to become a bill that makes it to the ballot for the public to vote on.

The counts are still not up to date. If you want to follow the counts you can view them here.

I wonder what % of collected sig's get voided and since they self report 1.1 mil sigs collected I would think that they will surpass the 685,000 mark w/the remaining sigs still awaiting to be counted.

Sorry for being so late on the subject but Florida received all the signatures it needed. Now we are on the November ballot.
