Bad news for Uk growers

Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has defied the Government's own experts by announcing that laws on cannabis will be toughened up.
Ms Smith said the drug must be upgraded from Class C to Class B to avoid "risking the future health of young people".
The move comes despite the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) concluding that the health dangers from cannabis did not justify its inclusion in the higher category.
A report from the group said scientific evidence pointed to a "probable, but weak, causal link between psychotic illness, including schizophrenia, and cannabis use".
However, in the population as a whole, the drug played only a "modest role" in the development of these conditions.
Ms Smith told the Commons that, despite the experts' conclusions, the Government was determined to "err on the side of caution".
"I have given the council's report careful consideration," she said. "Of the council's 21 recommendations I accept all bar those relating to classification.
"I have decided to reclassify cannabis to a Class B drug, subject to Parliamentary approval."
She added: "There is a compelling case for us to act now rather than risk the future health of young people.
"Where there is a clear and serious problem, but doubt about the harm that will be caused, we must err on the side of caution and protect the public. I make no apology for that - I am not prepared to 'wait and see'.


What a load of BullS**T!!!, I wonder what effect this will have on grow busts this year?????

Yes this is a step backwards, and an unwelcome move, but remember growers and dealers - there was never any break for you, just for personal smokers/possession - the law was always kept the same for cultivation and distribution/supply.

yeah soz guys , it is just talk,was feeling a bit rowdy lastnite, i know of a few dodgy coppers that would just love to have me and my mates in lock up ,i dont want to give them that satisfaction ,even tho my blood boils sometimes,

i have no love for them ,
assult on a copper isnt always jail, but it depends on ur past/other charges i suppose

but this class b re class is gonna send a lot more innocent people to prision,i think they will regret it in the long run

this time last year ,ive heard rumours of local boys getting caught with say 80+ plants ,and get "smack on the wrist" and only a c.s

theres no chance of this happening now ,the courts are gonna make an example

Yeah read this on the Beeb the other day, couldn't believe it...the ONE thing that Bliar did right and Brown wants to reverse it. "to protect the children" nonetheless, jeezus...how can she say that with a fuckin straight face? Good weed is already so hard to find in London...now you growers will have to up your prices to cope with the increased risk.

I say this in the nicest possible way, m@rg and kay gee bee, please read what others have posted before posting yourself.

There is a common misconception in the UK that when cannabis was downgraded, that the law against cultivation and supply was also downgraded BUT IT WAS NOT, so to repeat what I said the other day before you posted:

"remember growers and dealers - there was never any break for you, just for personal smokers/possession - the law was always kept the same for cultivation and distribution/supply."

So, there is NO increased risk, NO wanting to make an example of anybody, etc, etc.

The law only changed in the past for PERSONAL CONSUMPTION.


If I had a pound for everyone who thought the law was previously relaxed for all aspects of cannabis, then I would be a multi-millionaire by now...
