What's new

Uh, oh! … Otto!

This is apparently an auto flower Wazabi Kush that was germinated roughly two months ago. Everything is basic stuff from the hardware store (peat moss, salt nutrients, perlite) the fabric pots are 1 gal from Gorilla.

The luminaire is a decade old Bridgelux Vero SE Gen 7 build with (x2) 3k and (x1) 4k COB’s, soon to be replaced with a mammoth EB Strip build.

If anyone has advice on the ruderalis I’d appreciate it, this would by first and it was by mistake (bag seed).

The baby you see photographed is the Skywalker Haze that will be under the spotlight in the coming months along with a couple of friends.

On a side not, does anyone else feel like superman today?

Ok friend thanks for posting. Is this a auto grow?

When this big plant is an Autoflower it should flower after ~ 20 - 30 days. You said it's 2 month old so it should be in full flower mode now but i only see a few hairs!?

Good Growing! ✌️

Good Growing! ✌️

I’ve been able to sex every plant I’ve ever grown by 21 days before this one. Two weeks of 12/12 and not a pistil or ball sack. Then I switched back to 18/6 and within the week it popped all over and had a strong smell.

The seed came from a hemp seed bag of buds, Wazabi Kush is the label. I chopped the top thinking it was a photo so I’m concerned I ruined it.

Cheers!

So there is a lot of new growth at the top, that's good. When this really is an autoflower and you topped it then i think it will just take longer. But it will not die so you should be good with patience. :)

Your soil is a bit heavy with Nitrogen, you can see this on both plants. That also could delay flowering...

Yes, the nitrogen was very heavy in the beginning. I like to burn the tips with nitrogen to get the leaf growth, then back off and push more potassium for stems. The leaves are sugar factories, I just need them to work long enough to produce nodes and sugar leaves. Once the sugar leaves show, I begin a slow process of defoliation during flower to allow light to reach to the lower canopy.

I was assuming the topping was a bad idea, it always stunts photos (fem/reg) so I anticipated the stall and used it to flip to reduce stretch. You can also see I’m using a 4K COB in the center to reduce stretch.

This is my first ruderalis, I’ll keep everyone posted on the progress of Otto the auto.

Cheers!

I am not convinced it is an auto either. It would have started flowering much earlier or at least showing sex.

She has been on 18/6 when the pistols showed so I switched to 12/12 to be safe. I want to get this out of the way for the other three coming. In the past, I’ve been able to show sex by 21 days. This plant did not respond to sexing. I am Jack’s confusion.

Came home to a broken mechanical timer, in the on position.

FML.

🤦🏼

It also looks like the stalk is trying to grow around the 1,000 ppfd area, so the lights were raised to have 700+ in-center and 600+ on the sides. The 4K should keep stretch in-check so I’ll probably ride this out ~18”.

She is thirsty today, looks like we are watering every two days now. Possibly time for a transplant?

New electronic timer installed.

I’m thinking the topping is what slowed down the maturation, if this was a photo I’m sure it would have showed at least one pistil under 14 days of 12/12.

How else can we know if this is a ruderalis or not? I know the buds it came from were the hemp THC-A from the 2018 Farm Bill.

It looks like the Wazabi is in full bloom.

Nutrients look good to me.

Ppfd should stay in the 700-800 range for the rest of the grow. If she gets much taller I’ll have to get another tent as I only have ~12” of headroom.

I’ll show you guys how I run two tents with two light cycles on the same ventilation.

Cheers!

Bad photo, ordered 50k resistors and 50k potentiometers for the XLG drivers.

330° to sweep 50% power for greater resolution.

The resistors were military rated, so I can feel safe knowing they are also being used to murder innocent people. Wonderful!

She is looking alright today. Nothing special, except maybe an odd third cola?

The Skywalker Haze is coming up a bit and the Blueberry is finally out of the dirt. Still waiting on the Super Skunk to crack.

Next week the flowers are going into a new tent, I’ll duct both tents together, get the small veg light setup in this tent, then begin building the main veg light for this tent.

12x Bridgelux running on a XLG-150, I expect the only heat is going to come from the remote driver.

Built a new intake (old intake is the first photo) with an included filter, not a single leak of light. With the increased airflow needed for flowering the new tent coming in tomorrow won’t have a single issue breathing. Now I will just need to run the duct between both tents and provide a solution for light leaks between the tents via the ducts.

The filter will remove dust, pollen and mold spores!

Cheers!

New tent added!

I’ll be building another intake for the new tent the exact same as the proof of concept. I was pleasantly surprised that the proof worked 100% without any modification from the initial revision.

I have noticed that the first tent is a bit shorter than the new tent, I’m not sure if I want to keep it the way it is or not.

The 150W luminaire is hanging in the new tent, it is a very tight fit. I’m thinking the driver should be on-board instead of remote. These LED’s won’t produce any heat and I need to get the canopy temp closer to 80° F.

The Wazabi needs a transplant, switched to full bloom nutrients at 1/4 strength. Meters for dissolved solids and pH for the nutrient solutions are in the way. The soil is testing right on 6.5.
