The University of Colorado, Boulder is going to take action to stop students from participating in the annual 4/20 smokeout. Claiming that the 4-20 event "damages the reputation" of the school and students, they are going to limit parking and will hand out $100 tickets to those who light up.

Thousands of students and marijuana smokers traditionally gather in a large field near campus dormitories on April 20th for a "smokeout."
In an effort to try to curtail the weed party, officials said there will be strict enforcement of a campus ban on medical marijuana, $100 tickets to people caught with pot, and possible arrests. CU said students who do face legal consequences will have their name posted on the campus police website's daily crime log.

oh no...they are going to limit parking and hand out fines.

in other states, they'd arrest you and charge you with a felony.

low blow, teachers are supposed to be at the forefront of modern thinking, not helping to enforce barbaric laws, using their own petty power against the students they are supposed to inspire.

100 to smoke in public

100 to smoke in public

Still a luxury, they can't stop what's coming. I'll be on the field no doubt come 420, and I'll be smoking. :dance013:

100$ to smoke on a college campus? I've been arrested twice for pot back in Seattle and paid a lot more than 100$. The city of Boulder's law enforcement on pot is a joke. LOL!!!!

Let's see them write that many tickets without riots :)

Sounds like a joke to me... smells like politics at play... election year coming up and all..... :moon:

Should be a fun day.

So... they're going to ticket and attempt to embarrass people for following the law? Sounds like a legal battle waiting to happen.

I wonder how much money the school has...

"4/20 damages the reputation of the university and of every student enrolled here," said CUSG Vice President for External Affairs Brooks Kanski in a statement. "Do any search online of CU-Boulder and what will invariably pop up is an image or video of 4/20. Questions about 4/20 plague CU graduates in job interviews. It’s time for all of this to end."

So I thought I'd give this Brooks Kanski dude 10 seconds of my time and see if he is being honest about 4/20 stuff being near the top of the Google results for " CU-Boulder"

What I found was ZERO hits involving cannabis in the first few pages of Google results - EXCEPT articles about this 4/20 crackdown. LMAO.

That guy is a liar and has apparently never heard of the Streisand effect.

Maybe everyone go and not smoke (smoke at home before you come) nor be holding even a cigarette paper this year. Make liars out of them with the news media present and well as make them spend all of that money for security and cops not needed...money talks and bs walks...lol

I bet it's not the teachers. It's the no-nuts politicians of the administration.
They're famous for cowardice and ass-covering.:moon: They don't give a damn about inspiring the students. Just crank 'em through the mill, collect the money and don't make waves.
