Canary Islands are (possibly) about to erupt EVACUATION underway NOW! RISES 2 inches in 4 days.

I don't want to be an alarmist but my east coast friends should be prepared for this to possibly happen next week. The U.S. government is preparing already.

Basically El Hierro Island is a volcano Island in the Canary Islands that is about to erupt. If the eruption is violent as predicted and split part of the island off into the ocean. when scientist run the numbers they predict that the worst case senario would hit the east coast with a 300 foot wave traveling 500 miles er hours. Seems exagurated tome, but the possibility is there. The problem is divide those numbers by ten and you get a 30 foot wave at 50 mph and the whole east coast is still fucked.

UK and Spain, and Portugal, and south America's east coast need to watch out too.

If only we could get that and those reactors to collapse at the same time, plus an outbreak, we'd be set!
On a serious note,
anything on mainstream media about it? (not that I expect it to be. talk about state of panic)
300ft scenario = massively fucked, highly improbable (hopefully)
30ft seems more probable if it happens.
It'd mess up the actual coastal cities but inland of coastal states should stay dry, though it would usher in state of emrg and massive displacement. probably see the resrves/gaurd and below "association" honing their corralling skills, again.
Checkin the Fucking Emergency Man Association website now.

was in the middle of posting, missed this piece of gold:
but if it's gotta happen i hope it gets snookie
yes please.
unfortunately such creatures when wealthy have evac out of harms way + the heads up every time. If it werent for her rich connects shed succumb to the floods as the rest of the ingorant guidettes would, perpetually unaware. final txt "OMGZ IM DROWN"

icmag's crystal ball says that this volcano will go down, and split the island...

and yess the lava will snake out the snook and the trumpster

hope that makes your day:huggg:

I've read about this possibility before. As with any seismic sea waves, the ultimate height depends upon the topography of the coastline. Long shallowing harbors would be the worst case scenario.

It would help more if this was coming from someone a little more official then a guy running a site called www.prophticseer.com. It didn't help much either that in this guys mind it started with his "spidey sense" the day before he saw the news report he's basing all this on. But yeah if a 300 foot wave hit the East Coast at 500 mph anyone who didn't get at least 6 hours inland before it hits is screwed.

Crazy shit

Here is the history channel segment on what would happen if the Canary Islands erupted. Massive land slide, followed by a mega wave.

Sooo IF this happens, someone mentioned the U.K could get hit.

Where would it hit here in little Britain ?

There's a more reasonable take on what might happen.

"Tidal wave threat 'over-hyped'

Basically just one group of researchers came up with this scenario that depends on utterly insane things happening, like the entire island just perfectly splitting up in 1 massive chunk to cause such an insane wave.

Landslides and stuff just don't seem to happen that way, and the other researchers who predict the land breaking apart into smaller pieces seem to make way more sense.

Not saying it isn't worth discussion, just that it shouldn't start with some psychic douchebag who bases his prediction on a History Channel popumentary designed to shock viewers and make them watch the next ad.

^^hahah! right. screw you guys, gonna hang ten on your dead corpses.

(jk, im mean)

but in all seriousness. this sucks, i have family on the coast.
