This is copy and pasted directly fro the first sentence of USATODAY's story on Ohio's vote. "CINCINNATI — In a major blow to marijuana legalization nationwide, Ohio voters Tuesday rejected a sweeping initiative that would have ended pot prohibition in the Buckeye State."

Like usual, totally wrong. Absolute total bullshit. Major blow my ass. It had nothing to do with legal marijuana or the prohibition. It had to do with the people of Ohio voting down giving just 10 rich motherfuckers the monopoly on growing in that state. They (rightly) voted down some rich fuckers just getting richer and cornering everybody into having to buy their schwag and chemically poisoned shit at $300 a oz. They voted down being charged a $50 license fee just to grow a God given plant at home. THAT was what was resoundingly voted down

What crap these fuckers tell people. Then middle America reads that and has no idea what is really true. Pisses me right off. Just more damn lying about weed. Whatever. What else is new though? I did think some of that shit was finally changing though.

Hello all,

Ohio has made the correct move and the legalization movement will go on.

Its a small victory for douche nozzles looking to "make a buck" at the expense and freedoms of others. Looking forward to the day when common sense prevails.

There are few news sources that are reporting what really happened. Folks in favor of legalization, were not in favor of a form of legalization that constitutionalized a monopoly of rich investors.

The initiative 2 looks like it will pass, which seems good on the face of it with it being touted as anti-monopoly, but I fear voters just gave the government free reign to reject future initiatives based totally on opinion.

While I'm not from your country, so don't want to stick my beak in too much; the form of legalization that your refer to, that constituted a monopoly of rich investors, isn't that how it is being done in Washington and Colorado?

It's a tenet of Marxist philosophy, that the People should own the means of production.

But the US, with it's history of Socialist phobia, will stick to the tried method of giving the power to the rich.

There's a big difference between monopolies and capitalism. However, I admit the way this country has become, the difference is blurring more and more.

These investors would have been written into the state constitution that they were the only ones who could produce it.

The initiative also would have allowed 4 plants to be grown (per person or per household, I'm not sure which). I'm sure some sort of registration and taxation would take place, but folks could at least grow their own on a very limited scale. However, how long after passage of this initiative would it be before the legalized cabal uses part of their new windfall to put pressure on to take away that right to grow 4 plants? Most of the farming in the US is probably done by corporations, but it's not illegal to grow your own food.

Then how long after that would it be before the prices got jacked up?

That's what most of the folks were thinking who voted against Initiative 3. There were more legalization advocates voting against this initiative than voted for it.
