Hello iv been doing research on a few different types of lights and a few people i know have spoken to me about lights but they are novice growers them selfs. Also could you use a t4 light or are they to weak for the plants? other question is i also got given a T5 300w aquarium heater/light not too sure yet havent used it the person who gave it to me said it can be used but im not sure if they have grown them selves lol . i do have 600w hps for the furture but im thinking about an LED grow

If any experiecnced growers could give me some adivce would be awsome as im going to experiment with a few different ways but id rather speak to people who know what they are doing

Thanksalot guys!! :D:biggrin::ying:

Well, there are a lot of things to take into consideration when considering lighting: Room, heat, cooling, etc. What area are you working with and how many plants are you wanting to go with?

You should be able to grow 6-8 plants in a 4x4 to 4x6 (or 5x5) area, depending on how big you want them to get, if they are photoperiod or autoflowering, and method of grow (scrog, sog, DWC, RDWC, etc).

As for lighting I would go with your 600w HPS light and veg/bloom under it. That is unless your ballast is not a digital one. Then I would spend the little bit of $ and buy a 600w metal halide bulb for your veg, and switch it to the HPS for bloom.

The problem I always read about with LED's is their reliability. I could be wrong, but its just what I have seen. And since you already have a 600w HPS, why spend the extra money for an LED set up. HPS/MH are tried and true. The only real advantage I see with LED's is heat management. But alas you should definitely do as much research as you feel necessary to make your own mind up comfortably.

Now, as for the t4 and heater lamp, they really wont find a use when you have that nice 600w HPS already. the heater lamp definitely not, as the HPS will already be producing quite a bit of heat, and you want to try to mitigate heat as much as possible.

Good luck :)

I don't have experience with anything other than CFLs, and T-8s for vegging and different iterations of HPS HIDs for flower. I have ran 400 watt HPS and CMH for a flower veg combo, 600 and 1000. Sorry but I don't have experience with LEDs or the heater lamp that you speak of. My gut tells me to shy away from the heater/light simply because it has heater in the name but that is all I'm going on. I wanted to chime in here because regardless of what light you end up going with I was going to suggest doing a vertical setup and see how you like it. Look into and dabble in the vert section and check out a couple of grows. You might get converted.
