Tying into dryer vent for light exhaust?

Couldn't find anything on this... Had an idea to exhaust my lights out of my house.. Would it be possible to put a backdraft damper on my dryer line to stop air flow into the dryer? Would only allow airflow one way on the dryer line.. lights will always have airflow.. but just incase I could throw a damper on the light exhaust as well.. consider it a fail safe.. anyone have any ideas on this? Think it's logical?

It should work, I think, with backdraft dampers on both, never having both on at the same time.

Dryers gunk up ductwork & backdraft dampers, so you'll need to stay on top of maintenance. You also need to be careful not to create backdrafts in the flues of gas or oil fired furnaces & water heaters. If you push air out of the house, it has get in somewhere else.

Why could both not run at the same time? also the dryer vent is on the opposite side of the house.. so no worries on bringing back in anything.

Because the dryer vent may not be large enough to handle both well at the same time.

When growers run powerful fans & vent them to the outside, it can create negative pressure in the house, so air will flow in to replace exhaust air any way it can, like the wrong way in a chimney or flue. When the furnace fires, for example, then the combustion gasses flow the wrong way as well.

Capische?

Put it together & experiment to make sure it'll work the way you need. Your dryer vent may handle both the dryer & the light at the same time, but you'll want to check with a probe type thermometer in the ducts. The effectiveness of the dryer & the temp of the grow can be adversely affected. Your house may be leaky enough that you won't get backdraft in the flues & you can check that with smoke from a cigarette or a stick of incense. You can overcome that by opening a window a little.
