two pc fans doubled up on diy carbon scrubber or one exhaust and one intake pc fan

Hello all :).

Would doubling up two 120mm pc fans (~3mmH2O and ~100cfm) to one diy carbon scrubber be an effective approach. or would using, for example, a 120mm pc fan (exhaust[~3mmH2O and ~100cfm]) hooked up to a diy carbon scrubber with 80mm pc fan (intake[~1.5mmH2O and ~50cfm - lower cfm to maintain the negative pressure within the grow space]) be more effective?

I ordered a whole bunch of pc fans for my box :

its 28 x 22 x 55. I am interested in what you find. I don't necessary need a scrubber but am curious how well they could push air through one. Static pressure rating is what you need to look for in the fans. I don't know if this doubles it you simple stack the fans.

In for answers.

Stacking fans - You may have seen my saga concerning the stacking of pc fans. It's important to note that stacking two or more computer fans on top of each other directly is not a real good idea as the blades rule each other out. I've been informed they need to be spaced out and if you hack up an old fan, you will have a pretty sweet spacer.

I haven't been able to find if a weaker intake pc fan would help the outlet fan :(

I know it sounds weird but my thinking would be that you would want a bigger intake fan. I think positive pressure in the tent would help push air out the exhaust and scrubber. I think negative pressure would force the exhaust fan to work harder, where as positive pressure would create an environment where the air is looking to escape and the exhaust and scrubber would be the route of least resistance. But for this to work your tent/area would have to be completely sealed except for the intake and exhaust.

This is only my thoughts on this and i have no experience with this kind of setup, not yet at least, so please don' think I'm trying to convince you i'm an expert or anything. Just a man and his thoughts.

What size DIY carbon scrubber? PC fans have no ability to go up against static pressure. Get a centrifugal fan. Good luck. -granger

I've seen a computer fan driven carbon scrubber but it uses 8 of them mounted to a panel in the bottom of a box, blowing up thru window screen "shelves" of activated carbon granules, 4 or 5 of them I think. they are all side by side, not stacked. It pulls the air thru a 4 inch gap at the floor in the front of the box and passes out the top thru an 8" duct flange.
recirculating inside the tent tho, not for exhausting. Buddy has an inline can filter leaving the Lung room he runs during late flower and trimming/curing.
