so i popped some seeds a few days ago, and ended up with twins(2 seedlings from one seed) i have read about this and honestly always thought it was cool looking. but now that the time has come for me to deal with it, i ask should i kill off the smaller looking one to allow the larger more hearty seeding to thrive? :dueling: i would apreciate any advice that will help on the situation. :smoweed:

Nice pic m8
Never seen that before

Tbh i would grow them like that just for shits and giggles...If one starts to slow the other down tho,Then i would cull one....

All that said
I am sure the two of them even if went all the way thru flower together,it would decrese yeild...Unless u trained them to grow away from each other(even then i am sure the root issue could cause probs(i would still try it tho)*grins*

Ok twins.....you have 2 growing in the same rapid rooter.....

I would just leave them alone for now.....any disturbance of the root system right now
could kill both of them!!!

Usually one seedling is a stronger seedling and one seedling is a runt......once they start to have a growth spurt (2-3 weeks), you might want to get rid of the runt.....

For now, just treat them normally and let them grow.....update with pics too!!!

:ying: kind regards from yer pal guineapig :ying:

GMT has a thread on twins I thought?

I know of two identical cases of Hawiian Skunk twins, mine and a close friend. One grows normal and the other was a runt. We didn't disturb the roots for fear of killing both plants.

I seperated my last twins they both grew into nice males the runt was branchier and shorter but healthy until he was culled my twins were from my cross of kalimistXsourbubbleBX3.

wow thanks everyone for all the replies. i was only concerned because the twins are much smaller then the other blowfish seed that was popped on the same day, i guess when there are 2 seedings cramed into one bean that will decrease the size. im not planing on growing these plants to harvest just want to use them as mothers and was concerned about the time issue because i wasnt too sure as to how far behind the twins will be from the other 3 mothers i have growing and would like to harvest before the heat of spring starts to set in :chin:. once again thanks everyone for all the replies, i really didnt expect much input since im new around here, but now im realizing that i should have been posting for the past 6 months i have been lurking these forums. take it easy on this beautiful sunday(here atleast) and be sure to smoke plenty of homegrown. :joint:

When you get twins, separate them as soon as possible so that the roots do not have time to tangle with one another. Be gentle in this process. Put them in different pots and grow them as usual. They will be small at first but, will catch up with the other plants in time.
If it was me I'd be jumping for joy at getting two plants for the price of one bean!! :woohoo:

im too scared to try to seperate them becuase i have had bad luck with the babies roots in the past and lost 2 due to shock. im wondering if i were to cut the runt at the stalk would they decaying material affect the bigger sister growth? im sorry that i am so full of questions im sure im just overanalyzing the situation like i tend to do too often. but would hate to lose my babies. thanks everyone for the help so far, time for me to get back to the bong :joint:

No its ok all questions will be answered.....

If you were to cut the runt at the stalk, the decaying roots would not affect the bigger sister's growth.....the roots would simply just die out naturally and be re-cycled
by the soil.....are you planning on using soil or hydro? am i right to assume soil?

Hi Doctor,
I would say to let the soil dry to the point it will crumble easily, and then separate them, repot them and then water, they should be fine. The problem is I doubt they will really be worth it. Although as a curiosity you may as well grow them. I have had it before as Desi said, ( Hi Desi), and I found that sharing the same shell meant that they both had reduced food supplies to start them off. The fat cotty leaves are the store for the initial growth, and that being reduced means that you get reduced intial growth. This kind of gives them a little set back compared to the other seeds growing around them, but if you give them the care and attention they need, they should do ok. I found some photos to show what I mean. If you take a very young plant embryo you'll see how they are sitting in side the shell, curled up and waiting for moisture waiting to expand and start growing.

When you get 2 of these in 1 shell, the food stores that fuel this are less for each plant, here's 2 sharing 1 shell just starting out life

guinea, i am planing on growing the mothers in dwc buckets, again for time issues, but the clones will be grown out in soil for my first attempt at an organic grow. im sure that i will be using the forums for a lot of help, this will only be my 3rd grow and the other 2 were done in dwc. well GMT that being said leaves me with no more questions. i will just let them go for curiosity, i will only need to root 15-20 clones so i should be fine with the other 3 moms. thanks to everyone that contributed to my thread, i will be updating pics in a grow diary when things start to get interesting  untill then i will be seeing everyone around maybe even contributing and kind of help that i can.
