Hey Everyone,

I am wondering if it is possible to turn a 3" cleanout that is in my garage into a drain setup? Any info on if it is possible and what I would need are appreciated!

Thanks:joint:

I assume its possible, no reason I know of it couldnt be. I plan on doing the same here in a couple days.

The cleanout should have a screw on cap. remove the cap, and get the right fittings to screw in and make your drain.

If its a permamnet drain and you are going to leave the cap off 24/7, you should put a P trap in in to prvent gas from coming back up.

A trip to Lowes or Home Depot should get you everything you need

Yamaha is right. The cleanout is a sweep going directly into the waste system and is good for a drain - needs a trap.

Thanks guys, that is what I was figuring. It is located at one end of where I am constructing my room and I will be leaving it will be semi permanent leaving the cap off all the time. I am going to be pumping RO waste water to the part of the drain line and everything else is going to be gravity fed. Going to have drain hook ups for tables in my 2 flower rooms as well as one in my veg room.

Whoa
The clean out
on that Pipe
will need to be
EXTENDED
turned
and Pointed
UP
W/a pee-trap added (stinky stuff)
When U drain the Tub/Flush the Toilet
or anything above it
a torrent of "Stuph" will be shootin by the "Clean Out"
also step down to 1.25 ABS for the extensions
it will save U a few bucks

Dont leave that cap off for any length of time, sewer gas is bad stuff and can kill with the right conditions. go buy a new cap and drill a hole for your drain line and caulk around it so its airtight. good luck!
