Tonto - That's exactly what I was thinking, this can prove to be a very usefool tool in the aide of designing of cabinet/box/closet grows and even whole room grows!
Guerilla Family - Yes this is a free download. You can also buy the pro version.
Google for a plugin called "pipe along path", that is how you do ducting and it's wikkid. I used it to make these 90mm PVC elbows:
I've always used the inbuilt Windows print screen feature to get them as a picture. Hit the print screen button on your keyboard and then paste it into Paint, or Photoshop, or GIMP etc and crop it.
I've also been trying to learn sketchup and figure out this problem. I found you can also just use the Follow Me tool in the standard sketchup program. You draw a circle where you want the duct to start then beginning at one edge of the circle, draw a line to represent the path that edge of the circle should follow. Then with the Follow Me tool grab the circle and move the cursor along the "path" line. The circle follows and extrudes a cylinder.
It would be awesome to see a writeup about Google sketch up for beginners. I might start fooling around with the program and maybe once I learn more about it I'll make a post. If someone wants to beat me to the punch though feel free
I think it would really help if more people starting modeling their idea's and posting it up. It gives us a better idea of what the prospective grower is thinking and allows us to give better help.
i agree with you ph3dom it would be nice to have a thread explaining the google sketch up. i just gotit last week and im a complete noob so im lost with it.
