Trying to calculate intake, help please...

:joint: Hey everyone!

I'm planning my new 400W cab and want to plan the ventilation to perfection.

400W cool tube HPS
6" ducting, Stanley Blower modded fan
30.1 cu ft, 5.7 sq ft cabinet

I want to ventilate the cool tube in true inline fashion except I want to use a wye tee ('Y' shaped piece of ducting) to pull air up from right under the cool tube, above the tops of the plants.

How much intake area should I have? Thanks!

Peace, love & nugs...

In such a small space that seems like a waste of time. Assuming your fan pulls enough cfm just leave one end of the cool tube upen, or better yet hook it up to a carbon filter to help with the eventual smell. carbon scrubber-light-fan-outside

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to try that out. As for my question of intake area: 6" exhaust, area = 28.26" sq so the intake should be in the range of 56.52" sq to 84.78" sq (2 and 3 times the exhaust). Did I do that right?

Peace...
