Trouble germinating Cannabiogen (Panama x DC) seeds

Hello all, it's been a while since I've posted on here, I hope everyone is doing well!
As the title states, I'm having trouble getting any of my Cannabiogen Panama x Deep Chunk seeds to germinate.

I placed 4 seeds of multiple strains from different breeders in a damp paper towel (used filtered water), folded the paper towel over itself, put it in a gallon zip lock bag, and then put that in a dark, warm spot. 3 seeds had cracked within 24 hours except for the Cannabiogen PxDC seed. I gave it another 24 hours, then decided that I'd try putting it in a cup of filtered water, which is where it has been sitting in for the last 24 hours, so the seed has been damp/in water for at least 72 hours now.
I put another Cannabiogen PxDC seed in a cup of water a little over 48 hours ago and don't see any signs of life from that one yet either.

Any tips on how to get one of these seeds to germinate would be appreciated very much! I ordered 3 seeds, so I only have one more shot left at growing this strain that I've wanted in my garden for quite a while now; deep chunk is an all time favorite of mine.

Thank you all very much, have a wonderful night! :tiphat::)

I moved them to peat pellets inside a clone tray with dome and put a seedling heat mat underneath since it's so cold in the house. No sprouts. I don't know what the hell went wrong. ~$40 wasted

i use the heated prop , seeds straight into rockwool starter cubes ..............the only last option i use when seeds don't pop is to bite them between your teeth very delicately until you feel the shell pop.........some seeds have exceptionally hard shells and need help for water to penetrate

Give it some more time, sometimes the shell is thicker and needs extra time. Some people will scuff the shell to thin it for better moisture transfer. Others will crack the seed with a cracker.

I only soak for 24hrs. Tops. After the first 12 if none have dropped to the bottom, I'll give them a nudge (often air bubbles hold the seed on the surface). After the 24hrs I put them in wet paper towel and into a dark cupboard. Not too warm not tool cold. Around 70.
Normally within a day or two ill have tails developing. I have gone days in the paper towel before anything happened. Patience is key.
If after a week seeds dont pop but they are dark, I trash those.

Good luck, dont give up!

Where did you purchase the seeds from? Depending on the bank, they may be an older batch. I just put in an order of Panama x DC from seedsman, I'll let you know sometime how they did.

Cool, thanks I'll look into that, I don't know if I trust myself not to just bite the seed in half though, haha.
I'll have to give that a few trial runs with some old bag seed. I did score one of the seeds with a razor blade along the crack on one side very, very slightly before putting it in a peat pellet. Still nothing though, unfortunately.

Thanks, I was reading about using a matchbox + sandpaper to scuff the seeds and was thinking of trying that; you suggesting it gives me more faith un trying it!

Do you soak your seeds in tap water, filtered, RO, or...? I was thinking about trying a very weak hydrogen peroxide solution, but I've never done it before so I'm a little scared to try it.
Your method is just about what I've decided to follow. I'm just baffled that I'm having trouble germinating seeds because the last time I did everything seemed to go very easily. It's been a few years though, I've been working with just cuttings for a long time now... I guess I lost my seed germinating touch.

Thanks again for the advice!

I ordered them through Seedsman also on their black Friday sale. And thanks, I'll keep a lookout for your posts. Good luck with them!

I hope everyone is having a great week. Thanks to all of you for the kindness and advice.

It happens. I use RO water. There can be so many variables are to why they're hard to germinate. But i just germinated a 15 year old seed with this method. Not thick shell though, just old.

yeahh you'll be surrpirsed the control you have in your bite ....grip the dry seed right at your finger tips ...bite down the seam(crack) of the seed, gently applying pressure until you feel the pop, don't matter if you get saliva on it .........usually 50% of force popped seeds germ from my observations :tiphat:
