I'm a big fan of most of the bands listed so far. Incubus' Fungus Amongus and Science are two of my favorites as well. A big +1 to those that mentioned Tool. Sigur Ros is another good one. The ( ) album is awesome to chill to, or to trip to.

sorry , I'm very diversified
I'm trying to think of like some old p-funk acid tunes but can't think right now .... like old non lyrical Santana tunes .

Kool Keith is great Vex. If you want trippy hip-hop though, look no further than Dälek. It's NIN type industrial meets very heavy hip hop beats. The lyrics are heavily laden with intense metaphor and some very beautiful imagery.

Imagery brings me to my next suggestion: Pearl Jam. They're great to zone out to.

How about Al Green guys? Anybody else dig Motown while they're in another world?
