Trip Expense

If you good folks wouldn't mind I would like to get a average cost of what people spent on their trip to the cup in order to get a general idea of what I need to start putting back. I'm talking Air fare (which I know will change), Hotel etc.... and if you want, how much fun money did you take/spend. Dosn't have to be in great detail. Just want to start planning right now. Dammit I want to go before they shut it down to tourists. I know, I know, but I keep hearing this shit.

1st... That aint NEVER gonna happen! The dutch are TOO INTELLIGENT to let that type of discrimination happen!!

Well..... Back 2 your question!

I am NOT the average..... I spent $69(and 80,000 miles) for rt Biz class KLM tickets... (Figure... if you watch carefully (farewatcher etc) $400 RT NYC to Amsterdam (Adjust for YOUR region)

A friend has an apartment so that cost me $75 (I gave the cleaning woman a tip for the extra work) YOU can find inexpensive digs from under 25$ per nite at Bobs Youth Hostel (My 38 year old friend stays there!) aprox $35 per nite at DAMRAK hotel (and quite a few others in jordan) to approx $95-$110 at AMS hotels.... all the way to $200 a nite at the Victoria or Rennasonce (SIC)

I think I spent about $200 euro on 5 gram packages of Sour Diesel, MK ultra and SAGE at AMnesia

IF you have the Expert Judges pass you could probably just smoke that!! It was gi-normous!

I also bought about $100 worth of groceries....

Id say all in all I spent about a grand.... 1/3 of what I spend at the HORRIBLE HTCC (Which, HAPPILY, after discovering the 420, I have decided to SKIP this year)

I would say that most frugal people can get an A'dam vacation at the 420 Cup for under $2000... airfare and all inclusive!

My air fair form TX cost 675.00 -

Hotel 6 days (the Dam Hotel) 275.00

Food apx. 200.00 - (coffee/cokes/waters are 1.50-2.00) -I drank a lot more coffee that I usually do - but every-where had a good cup to offer. U can eat cheaper or a lot better than I did = I did not go hungry & had a lot of great deserts & pizza slices a few nights.

Local cannabis - runs from 5-11.50 a gram
Hash 6.-35.00 a gram - (strengths vary a lot)

Pocket change – tips/change for the street musicians – apx. 25.00

Next year I will be much more focused on what I want out of the trip. I found a few grow supplies & special seeds I wanted & will take some extra cash for them.

My tenitave bugget for next year is 2 grand = wonderful city - the best cannabis/hash in the world = priceless new friends & memories.

I took my girlfriend, lived like a king and spent way to much money! It was worth every penny. I eneded up with 2 euros in my pocket by the time I got home. Thank god for the credit card. When 4/20 comes the more $$$ you have the better. Start saving now. Every penny counts. If you can save 5-7 dollars a day anyway...you'll have plenty. $5-7 bucks! Sounds like a pack of smokes for you out there that smoke butts! Imagine quitting cigs and the rewards is going the 4/20 cup. Some of you out there smoke two packs a day! From no until 4/1/06 that would be ~$3800!!!!!! That is one person smoking two packs a day! Sounds to good to be true...your life....your health....more money....and a trip to the DAM. This sounds like an idea for a new thread!!!! We'll see.... :chin: Later OH

I did not go to the 420 cup and so I dont know how much expenses in and around and for the cup are? but I did spend 5 days from the 10- 15 th MAy. and it costs:

Flight to Amsterdam - Book your tickes exactly 6 month in advance- If you know the dates then reserve, you can pay up to a month before you actually fly, but if you reserve so far in advance you will get the cheapest flight deal on a decent airline and not on a charted flight. Reccomended...

Accomodations, Look at the web. for bookings: I use this site:
http://www.medialink.nl/amsterdam/.
and you can get good decent accomodation for under 40 Euros a night including breakfast. Also if you know the dates and reserve well in advance then you can get an excellent deal in an excellent hotel that is very central. I stayed once at the Abba booked through this site and it was fine, a little off from central Amsterdam but still good.

If you are going in a group, 4 people (which I dont reccomend because no one can decide what to do and eat and where to go together, and there is always arguing as to where what and when to do where ever- with everyone) then you can rent an appartment that has everything and will cost about 55 euros per night per person. (but I learnt from my last trip NEVER to travel with more then 1 person.)

We walked all over central Amsterdam and so did not spend more the 10 euros on transport - each.

Went to various Museums MUST and Keukenkoff gardens MORE THEN A MUST and tours to various parts of holland (forget about Alkmeer cheese market- a waste of time and money)- all that came to about 130 Euros each.

Food: NOT CMEMORY if you eat in resturants- about 20-30 euros for a decent meal per person, the cheapest and nicest meal i enjoyed was in an Indian resturant and cost 85 euros for 4 people, or an Italian Resturant came to 100 euros for 4.
Also I bought groceries - bread and cheese, milk and stuff, and that was breakfasts- and one night supper. so Its good to have a refrigirator in your room.

Weed as mentioned by Fredster:
"Local cannabis - runs from 5-11.50 a gram
Hash 6.-35.00 a gram - (strengths vary a lot)"
but It is a little more, I paid 7- 12 euros a gram for weed, but seeing as you will be at the 420 then I am sure you will get enough weed from there...

Great info but...........

From the states that may NOT be the best strategy......

Really... follow Fare tracker..... But very often if you wait you will get the best fare..... 6 months to a year ahead and they KNOW you WANT that ticket! Now... it MAY turn out that at exactly 6 months before is when all the airlines are having sales and it IS the best time.....

But usually when they fear the plane is going light.. thats when they start cutting prices!!!

Jah Bless..... Good Luck..... Say HIGH to me!!! (Yes, after attending what was probably the best vibe'd cup in YEARS.... I have decided NOT to attend this years HTCC and NOT TO MISS next years 420!!)

well on another thread here i found www.amsterdescape.com

seems awesome and is cheaper than the hotels on expedia. with the apartment and flight for 3 people looking at about $1600 a person, probably a little more like $1500. wow i can't wait for the cup.

You should not pay more then 55 euros per person in a hotel or in an apartment.
The apartment is only if you are a group of 4 + people and then you share the cost. (this is what we paid in May, we took a vey nice apartment on the Raamgracht, very very central and it had everything, we were a group of 4 people)
The advantage of an apartment is the fridge, where you can keep milk and cheese and stuff and this will help on not having to eat out all the time.- another Saver.

If you reserve a hotel 5 or 6 months in advance then you will get it cheaper.

Also I really reccomend the center of Amsterdam.
5 km out of amsterdam is far especially if you are out late and then you have to wait for transport. Also if you can walk all over with out having to pay often for transport will be a big saver.

At todays rate 55 euros x 10 nights is $662 US. This means that your flight is $900 US,
But then Perhaps this is how much flights cost from your part of the world to AMS. Check with your travel agent. (from my part of the work i can get a flight for under $400 US if I reserve at least 6 months before.

Keep looking and you will find what you are looking for.

One of my GOALS for the 2006 Growers Cup is to be able to organize,
with the assistance of a local travel agent who specializes
in 'group' travel, a complete package which would include air and a
choice of accommodations (various classes of hotels and apartments as well)
to offer all those who wish to join us for the next 420 Growers Cup.

When packages are put together for group
travel, there is a tremendous savings over ala carte type arrangements
individuals make for themselves. The one tricky part is going to be
having multiple gateway cities for air departures....but I have some
ideas on that as well.

Please do not ask me for rates now, as I have none.

With the packages based on 7 nights, with possible additional night
add-ons for those who wish to stay longer, this would provide a degree of
flexibility.

Based on previous experience in this area, it is best to concentrate
the air gateway around MAJOR cities in order to offer
group rates, such as:

NEW YORK CITY
CHICAGO
ATLANTA
PHILADELPHIA
MIAMI
ORLANDO
DFW
DENVER
LOS ANGELES
SAN FRANCISCO
VANCOUVER

Keep in mind the above is just a rough list, if this comes to fruition the list
of available cities could be increased, or might have to even be decreased.

Will just have to see what can be put together, this is
something best handled by a professional travel agency so when I
have located one to work with in this regard, and there's
any news to give you all, I'll post it....but could be a few months
away, so hang in there.

Before I go off doing alot of research and spending time on
this, I hope it's something that those considering attending would
use/benefit from, so does this sound like a good idea to you all?

Hey DG i would love to stay in the same hotel or appartment complex with everyone. I think that would make the experience that much more exciting.

Hi Sleepy,

Unfortunately Amsterdam is not particularly wheelchair-friendly as most buildings have steps in front of them; however degrees of access do vary. I will try to find more info for you. Something like 8 coffeeshops are classed as totally wheelchair accessible, again I will try to find info, but many are negotiable with minimal help. Handicapped WC's are not common in coffeeshops or restaurants. The new type of tram is well designed for wheelchair access, the floor of the tram now being level with the pavements (in most places!) and there is a wheelchair space in the tram although it's usually occupied by someone with a baby buggy!
More info as I find it, hope this is useful.

Group grope!

Group grope!

 Definitely DG! Baccas and I have been researching for exactly that sort of deal - an apartment or loft. To date I believe that baccas, shopvac, eHonda, nattygurl (and possibly Jen), and myself are planning on it. I also noticed your city list didn't include Detroit as a central hub rather than Chicago or New York, 3 of us are a quick drive from Metro Detroit International and could board and fly together!

I was planning on squirreling away $200 a month until the event, around $1600 US and hoping that would be enough, not including judges passes, of course.

Keep us posted on your progress and we will do likewise!

Countdown to the 2006 420 Growers' Cup! :woohoo:

In 2005 I probably spent about $200/day,and I stay at four-stars and up,
and that costs about $200/day,so a week,with airfare,was probably under $3500.
However,I deny myself NOTHING while I'm there.

I expect to have,by next year,a legal,registered seed business.
Then, for me,personal security won't be quite the concern that it became for me
at the 2005 IC420,thanks to....well,you know who....

Otherwise,I'm done with cannabis festivals.

Ciao!
