Trimming under incandescent lamps

I recently did a thread on how important sunglasses are when you spend time under HID's,your eyes will be affected if you dont, period. If you're dense like me and have been trimming for years under a 75 watt incandescent,do your eyes a favor and replace it with a daylight 6500K compact flo,if you dont do it for the savings then do it for your eyes.

whenever i go into my grow room i use the black glasses they hand out at metal fabrication shops. They are very dark and i am very aware of the dangers to your eyes, after years of not having those glasses and going into my grow room to chill/feed/etc i would come out with some very hazy visions and 'sun spot' type effects. So now i only go in there with them off at the laziest/quickest of visits.

As far as trimming goes i use a desk lamp and its halogen its pointed down and my field of vision is well above it, i try very hard to save as much harmmful shit going into my eyes being on the damn computer so much.

you not only get short term effects but long term effects after your exposure. it is a from of radiation whice will cause damage with each exposure. the long term in simple terms is like cooking a steak even atfer you remove it from the heat it still keeps cooking on the inside.

maybe i should brake out the old xray text to give a more defined answer. but i think most will get the hint. i have lost half my sight from many exposures.

i use a swing arm flo light with a large mag glass, works greatfor trimming and other things.

I just hope people are listening and understanding the importance of this,I saw many threads like this on OG and to tell you the truth,I thought it was goofy, overblown and I didnt really need to be concerned. Now 6 years later I'm definately without doubt "seeing" the effects lol, take this as seriously as security unless you feel secure not being able to see anything.Today and tomorrow are my flower water days, you can bet I'll wear my cheap sunglasses

Having done a fair bit of welding in my time I can vouch for the importance of shielding your eyes from UV exposure... sometimes couldn't help but catch a glimpse of someone striking up an arc or whatever - infact I got worryingly used to going home with aching arc-eyes!

Dont mess around, your eyesight is something you want to take seriously good care of.

when i first started growing i asked whether HID was harmful and the question was, basically, brushed aside . now i know. from now on i will always wear sunglasses when i crack that door open . thanks .

I feel good now, honestly.I didnt take it seriously either with 3 1K vertizontals above my head,I should have I really really should have.

Interesting. When I started my first grow I used to wear shades, even though it was only fluoros. But I remember I used to think it was bright enough to be uncomfortable. Now I'm pretty used to it and it doesn't seem all so bright.

Anyway, do I need to worry about this, even with a 250w?

With a 250 watt I doubt it,it's mostly underneath you right? With 1K lamps in soil sog isnt such a good idea so I flower large clones in 3 gal pots, the vertizontals are always above my head.If you setup is like that, and your looking at a few 400s or more,I'd definately get shades
