Trimming During Flower Question

So I have a question for anyone that cares to help me out... My plants are about 10 days into 12/12, and I was wondering is it alright to trim them? I normally dont trim in flower, only in veg, but I was battling some mites and I ended up keeping them in veg about twice as long as planned. They are on 4x4 tables, and because they were in veg so long, they are really really crowded, and some of the lower branches are not going to get any light, just too dense of a canopy. So is it alright to trim off some of those lower branches to try and promote bud development on the branches that are receiving light? I know some people trim in early flower, I just wanted some opinions on it, and to know whether it would be detrimental to my plants or flowering time at all. Thanks!

small amounts at a time up to the end of stretch will be fine. Just be cautious about it because nothings more annoying then stressing it to herm right as your buds start forming, lots of time wasted at that point.

Yes, this is called cleaning up the plant after stretch or lollipopping the plant. You remove all the lower branches before and after stretch to get just large colas up top and less fluff at the end. I always cut after 2 weeks of stretch and have never had issues of hermie or anything like that from it.
