trimming -> butter! :)

:woohoo:
I pulled my girls today and have the buds drying. The tiny little popcorn buds from one plant, and all the trim, leaves, and stems from 2 plants went to canni-butter with 1 stick of butter.

I think I simmered it for 2.5 hours. I didn't have cheesecloth, but I did have a good rag to use. It is extremely green looking. very dark colored. I used well over an ounce, and most of the trim was tiny leaves, not fan leaves.

It is very green, but the butter doesn't seem to be floating to the top... I think I'm being too impatient! haha. I am wondering if I can speed up the separation process with some additional cooling or if that will cause the butter to solidify before separating and giving me a bunch of little butter pellets.

:thank you:

You can put it in the fridge for a bit and the butter will solidify and float to the top. After that you can pull the butter out and dump the water. Hope that helps.

I put 3 ice cubes in it in the fridge, but it still took forever to separate. This morning it was separated enough for me to get the water out.

I had to round up as much as I could, then double boil it to liquify the butter. I ended up losing about 2 tbs of butter to loss, so I had to add back 2tbs for my recipe.

It did not come out as well as the OP in the sticky, but I think that would have been avoided by using more butter. I did the best I could. It was waste-materiel for the most part anyway.

I think I'm going to eat 1/2 the batch and see what happens :thank you:
