If you look closely you can see some that are clear and some that are more white or milky on the very tip top cap.
In the other picture some are even Amber in color.
This is actually the progression as the Trichomes age: first they are like hairs, then they form the clear cap, then the cap turns milky, then they finally turn amber in color.
Most people like to pick when most are milky, but it’s good to take samples at different times to decide what you like best. You could possibly start taking small samples now as about 50 % of your Trichomes are milky.

Check out the size of the trikes in the top photo of Wedding Cake x 4DD. They're huge compared to the others. Has to be good, right. It is. As they turn amber they begin to shrink in size. I read one theory that said there are three sizes of trichomes and each has specific cannabinoids.

A lot of the high testing Cookies crosses I've seen look like they have kind of stubby trichome stalks
Came across this article with a few good points. One thing mentioned is that it's all happening in the 'head' of the trichome. The stem is made of different cells, so bigger heads is more good stuff.
