For those interested in coming along for a bicycle ride In Amsterdam, visiting my favorite coffeeshops looking for nice hazes, here's the info.

Amsterdam is a very bike friendly city with many streets having dedicated bike lanes, and the city is very flat. The locals know it's the best way to get around, as you'll soon see upon exiting Central station.

I will be arriving a day before the IC420 starts and my 1st stop will be: RENT-A-BIKE DAMSTRAAT
The address is Damstraat 20-22 1012hk Amsterdam (50m from Damsquare)right around the corner from RENEE's bakery, there is a bikesign on the side walk.
www.bikes.nl

I will have some discount flyers with address & map @ SD by the 17th(afternoon).

There is a deposit required of 25€ and an id card.
The bikes come with 2 locks, use them and you wont need insurance @2.50€ a day.
They rent several types of bikes. Bikes can be rented by the hour/day(s)/week
3.50€/7€/31€ (for the cheapest models) pedal brakes, no gears.
which are the ones I rent, preferably with a basket.

There are many places to rent bikes in Amsterdam, I've just always found these guys to be easy to deal with and fair priced.
I don't care where you rent your bike.
BUT it would be nice if you plan on coming along for the tours, that you rent your bike ahead of time. renting a bike takes about 5-15 min depending on how busy the shop is.

The schedule says the bike tours leave SD @ 11am (being swiss) thats when I plan on leaving.

Part of the reason for this thread is so I can have a rough Idea of how many people will come along for the ride.

Also as the tours will be dependant on the riders to a degree, are there places/coffeeshops people want to be included?
or other questions ?

I'm down for a tour!! :canabis:

Would be great to have someone with experience giving tours!!

Thanks trichomefarmer! :friends:

Hazy Daze Ahead!!!

Well trichome you know I'm down for those bike tours! Also 11 am might be too soon for some people some of the days so maybe leaving a note at SD saying which coffeeshop will be your first stop so people can try and join in the fun.

We'll (2 of us) be there the 18th for sure. The rest of the days I'll have to see about. I guess it will depend on how many times I fall over (since no training wheels and I haven't been on a bike in years) or if I ride into a canal or get hit by a tram. Otherwise I'll be there on the 19th as well.

A stop at the Katsu is next after we get some haze fuel from the de Tweede Kamer.

Tweede Kamer menu there are many hazes on that back wall.

The Katsu, cured haze headquarters.

Clothing

Clothing

Hopefully the weather is beautiful.
:yummy:
:chin: However weather changes in Amsterdam, rather often.
Wind and rain are often a reality, but they often dont last long.

Layers are important, for bike riding especially.

 I wear a t-shirt, long sleeve shirt,(often another t-shirt) a hoodie, and a waterproof wind breaker. A hat will keep you much warmer, i prefer toques (beanies) over baseball caps (wind). A pair of light fleeze gloves may make your riding much more enjoyable, if the weather is nasty.

I bring a pair of light rain pants as well, but they usually stay at the hotel

Seeds Direct is just across that^^^^ bridge. just walk down the singel till you get to the fat bridge with the statue on it. on the other side of the bridge is SD ( don't cross the bridge, then you'll be at the Grey Area coffeeshop).

Thats how it looks, the arched door is where you enter, the green door leads to some apartments.

Through the arch along the wall, is a wooden walkway leading to the actual entrance to SD. I'm sure you'll be able to smell it :biglaugh: :joint:

There are lots of places to park our bikes near the bridge. Which by the way is the biggest hill we'll come across on the tour. :biglaugh:

Bike locks

Bike locks

Locking your bike is very IMPORTANT part of the tour. If you don't, you WONT be on the tour for long.

Unfortunatly, I don't have this bike, so I can't give anyone a ride.

The bikes are provided with 2 locks, a standard U-lock, for the front wheel and to lock the bike to a bar/bike rack/bridge rail. For stops at a coffeeshop, locking the front wheel to the frame of the bike is adequate, however for overnight parking,I would definatly lock the front wheel & frame to something.

The 2nd lock may be different from what you've seen.
The key needs to be in the lock when you ride, if the key is not in the lock there will a bar passing through the spokes , blocking the wheel from moving.

ALWAYS USE THIS LOCK!!!!! :whip:
This key often is a little fussy and gentle wiggling, may be helpful. Be patient I've seen the key snap.
To remove the key there is a small lever that is pushed down, then twist the key and pullout.

This is gonna be sick!! :D I'm gonna play it by ear as to which days I ride, so i won't confirm which days i'll be on the tour, but count me in on the hunt for some nice hazes :joint: Where's a good place close to centraal station to get a gram of some nice heady haze? 'cause that's my first stop, some energizing pure sativa as i've never experienced it before. I'm going to need something to counteract the jet-lag so i can start exploring the place

Homegrown fantasy shop often has a haze on the menu. the Grey Area usually has grey haze on their menu. while they aren't the closest to the station. there arent any shops I like really close to the station. home grown is about a 5-10 min walk, the Grey Area 10-15min. Seeds direct is between them. the Grey Area is not open on mondays, and not till 11 the rest of the week. hopefully there is something hazy on the SD bong hit menu. :abduct:

I don't remember ever getting anything really nice from the Rockerij, and I don't like dark coffeeshops, with random rules, and low(near the ground) seating. As for the other shops, don't know them well, but if they have some nice haze that may change.

HAZE Hunt

HAZE Hunt

When I'm in coffeeshops in Amsterdam, I generally only buy hazes.
Indicas are easy to find anywhere.

I like their flavour and the energy , I find it perfect for riding. high but still alert enough for traffic.

I like to try many different flavours, but I don't want to buy a gram of each.
groups can be very helpful for this, if a little planning is done.

When the tour arrives at a coffeeshop, it would be cool if different people would pick up different flavours(try to avoid the indicas). That way we can try more flavours, while saving a few €. :joint:

U should be able to count me in for a least one day trip & a round of hazes at a shop -

My back can't take to much - so i will need a 'cruser' & no racing for me - a crash on a bike is not in my plans at age 49

About the group sharing thing t-famer I think that's an excellent idea. It doesn't costs too much, you can sample different strains, find one that's suitable for you and it creates new friendships. Very smart!!
