TrichomeTechnolgies was started (I believe) about 5 or 6 years ago(?), just about the time Sensi came out with J. Herer. They are based in Switzerland and you get little snippetts of info on what they are up to from time to time if you do a dilligent search on them (or know people who have been breeding a looong time!)
At one time several years ago HighTimes did a little bit on them and had pictures of their grow operation. Talk about high-tech. All required grow functions such as water checks (pH, eH, PPM, etc), Schedules: lights, type of lights (HPS or MH or both (switchable)), on-off cycles, duration, Nute schedules; when, how much, which plants, C02, cycles, duration, I mean EVERYTHING was controlled by computer.
They purportedly developed the algorithm to run the whole shebang! I've heard (again this is hearsay) that it was designed so that the power drawn by the system was not 'cyclic' or 'predictable', i.e. you couldn't tell from the 'outside' (if you were someone that was monitoring their hourly current draw) that someone was running a grow room since the current draw was randomized by the program.
They have been breeding (or so I have read/heard) some primo genetics, yet they have not taken their strains 'out-to-market' and believe me I have been waiting for an appearance from them for some time!
One strain (I have seen) is called UltraViolet and it is a 3-way crossed purple Afghan. It's a lovely plant and you can tell by looking at it that it is:
1) Staaanky!
2) Absolutely killer.
It looked alot (IMHO) like D.J. Shorts' Blue Moonshine, with a more pronounced indica pheno morphology than the 'sativa-like' morphology of Blue Moonshine, or at least the Blue Moonshine pheno's that I have seen firsthand.
Another strain that I have only seen a *.jpeg of was called Polychrome (I believe). It looked like something out of a Star Trek. The colors on this plant were amazing!
Reminded me of Bumboklot's (sp?) Zindica.
They were (again, this is hear say) breeding a plant that is/was supposed to look an awful lot like Next Generations' Blue Dynamite, or D.J. Shorts' new Delta-9 addition, Ultimate Moonshine.
I would imagine they are all from very different (heirloom quality) genetic stock.
See Overgrow's Picture of the month for the mommy of Ultimate Moonshine. This strain...looks to be a beaut!
Grown in California part... in the Artwork... I read the same article in HT sometime back also... it will be a joyous day when California is liberated... and you can actually have a seed company based in California, or even the U.S. for that matter... I hope I see it in my lifetime... peace all.
i am looking at a poster high times ran one month and it has trichome techs strains on it. Ultraviolet (purple kush), kryptonite, washington, g13, and a few very nice looking others were all on it. I have been drooing over their stuff since i was younger. They are the only company with the real kryptonite weed, another strain that everyone swears they have. A lot of people in florida call there bud kryptonite, or the krippies, or krypto, but it aint.
ok i tried emailing them for some info and i didnt get diddly squat here is thier response
Thank you for your interest in Trichome Technologies. We are not currently open
online. Our products are available at many SF Bay area stores. Ask for us by
name. Thanks
I heard that Trichome Tech was once based in Oakland, and they had to pull a fast move when they felt the spot might be compromised. Supposedly they took upwards of 100 panel trucks and rigged many of them with lights, then moved all of their mother plants and equipment elsewhere. Can anyone confirm this? It was a great story.
Anyhow, TT supplies the Southern California elites with expensive hydro, is what I am lead to believe. More power to them, that is cool.
In that high times with TT in it. they talk with a guy known as K, and he basically says that he's the maker of "grandaddy purps". So TT has some killer shit!
GreatLakes THC- where did you get those contacts for TT from?
the word is TT's new location is somewhere in the vicinity of downtown San Francisco.
if you really want the dope on these guys (pun intented!), dig through the last couple of years of High Times back issues... there seems to be a TT article every handful of months or so.
they're masters, but some of their philosophies (running far more lights than necessary 'just because we can') are a bit wack. the run-to-waste system using 3 part GH sort of blows my mind, though.
(oh, and fuck grandaddy purple & almost every other purple strain. the purps are one of the most over-hyped, overrated strains--- every damn pheno--- since the LA kush fanaticism of the last few years. if i wanted a super stuporous indica, i'd head straight to the G 13 or an even purer 'Ghani.)
they were growing these back in 98'
